Emmet County Animal Shelter

We live in a primarily rural area with a 50% poverty level and 40% non Caucasian/transient population. Due to the farmer mentality or disposable mentality of our area many pets find them selves homeless due to no fault of their own. We take in animals that are neglected, abandon, injured or just unwanted. We rehabilitate them and then re-home them through our adoption process. We have been solely foster based since 2010 and are currently building our new facility. We do it all with volunteers and we do it because we love it! The animals deserve better and we try our best to offer them that by doing what we can, when we can, the best we can, with what we have and with all our heart.

Meet Link

***The first step in the adoption process is to complete the adoption application at www.emmetcountyanimalshelter.org**   This handsome fella is Link!  Link was picked up as a stray and no one claimed him although we have a pretty good idea where he came from so, we do have some history on this boy.  Link is about 3.5 years old and has spent most if not all of his life in a dog run outside.  He is looking for a home that would be willing to help this sweet boy learn all the things a good dog needs to know about living in a home including crashing on the couch and how nice a soft bed feels.  Link is a gentle, calm dog and he never gets overly excited or jumpy.  Just a few of his positive traits are that he keeps his kennel clean, he walks nicely on a leash, he is happy to receive pets, he likes his toys and doesn't chew them up.  We think he would be good with other dogs with an appropriate meeting, and we are going to see how he feels about cats.  In true husky form he is very vocal, so not apartment appropriate and hopefully if you are considering adopting a husky you find their howl endearing because he does like to sing the song of his people.  We have found that he loves to have companionship so some one that he can hang out with and do things with would be a huge plus in Link's life.  We really can't imagine this guy being locked in a run day in and day out because he really craves human attention.  Link is approximately 50 pounds of fluff, but he stands quite tall.  He could use to add a few pounds as he is a larger built husky. Link has been neutered, he is up to date on vaccinations and microchipped. His adoption fee is $275.00

Adoption Process
