Emmet County Animal Shelter

We live in a primarily rural area with a 50% poverty level and 40% non Caucasian/transient population. Due to the farmer mentality or disposable mentality of our area many pets find them selves homeless due to no fault of their own. We take in animals that are neglected, abandon, injured or just unwanted. We rehabilitate them and then re-home them through our adoption process. We have been solely foster based since 2010 and are currently building our new facility. We do it all with volunteers and we do it because we love it! The animals deserve better and we try our best to offer them that by doing what we can, when we can, the best we can, with what we have and with all our heart.

Meet Tavee

***The first step in the adoption process is to complete the application as www.emmetcountyanimalshelter.org*** Meet Tavee and his brother Hank and sister Ruby! These fluffy pups all came from an unwanted litter. Born mid March they are ready to find their very own forever homes!  We are told these pups are a mix of Pyranees/Lab and Border Collie.  Border collies are herders and very smart!  Labs are hunters and always have their nose to the ground or air searching and  Great Pyrenees are guardian dogs so be sure to do your research and consider that anyone of these breeds might be prominent in your puppy's personality!  The boys will be big dogs!  They are already very filled out and muscular.  Little Ruby likely will only be about 60 pounds.  She got a broken leg when a child ran it over on a bicycle.  The leg is healing but she may always have a limp.  These pups are energetic, playful, sweet, affection seeking and full of love!  They would be happy to be an integrated part of your family.  They are up to date on vaccination, wormed and microchipped.  Their adoption fee is $300.00 and they will be adopted on a spay/neuter contract.

Adoption Process
application, adoption fees for dogs/puppies start at $150-$300. Cats/kittens are free will offering adoptions. Contracts for adoptions must be signed. All animals (unless too young) are altered prior to adoption. If not altered a deposit is paid and given back plus a rebate after the alteration has been performed.
