Meet Hemi

Hemi is an all around good boy who came to the shelter as an owner surrender. He's an approximately 7 month old Australian shepherd mix with a funky black/gray merle coat. He's a medium sized pup who might have a little growing left to do but we don't expect him to be large. Hemi is fully vetted, chipped, and his fee is $150. Hemi's owner surrendered him simply because her work schedule didn't allow her to spend the time with him that he needs. He's a young dog and needs a lot of exercise and human interaction. He would do best in a home in which he's not alone for really long hours. He should do well with kids over 5 and we think he would do okay with other dogs. Cats? We have no way of knowing. He has had some basic training and is smart and ready to learn. NOTE:  Adoptions are done via private appointment once an application has been completed and approved. Applications can be submitted at our website, mchs.rescuegroups.org. We are located at 101 22nd St. SE in Austin, right next to the airport. It's exit 180B off of I-90, right off of 218 South. We do require that potential adopters be at least 21 years old and that any resident dogs be up to date on vaccinations, heartworm testing/preventative, and spayed or neutered.

Adoption Process
Starts with written Application form which includes questions regarding housing situation (rent/own etc. renters require landlord approval), History of previous or current pets, Vet information, Animal housing information (cats must be indoors, dogs fenced yard etc.). Fees for Cat Adoptions are $50 (or $75 for two) Dogs vary based on breed, size, etc. Average is $125.
