He loves running in our fenced yard and not as barky as there is not as many children running around the neighborhood or traffic going by. A quieter neighborhood setting is amazing for him. If he barks more than acceptable..hey, dogs do bark some ;), he responds well to "No Bark" or the Super Soaker being sqirted next to him. Albert LOVES men, women are ok, but Albert LOVES LOVES LOVES men. He attended Dakota Dachshund Day with us and did fabulous all day long attached to a leash around my waist. He cried when the guys left him. Albert is a very active 4 yr old neutered male dachshund that needs an active family or active male that will walk and hike with him, take him on adventures and love him like no other. This boy has come soooooo far since he arrived in DDR.Howdy! I'm Albert. I came to Dakota Dachshund Rescue because my owners couldn't handle me anymore. I was too alpha for their house, I needed to get neutered to take away that testosterone and learn some manners. I need a physically fenced yard and a strong pack leader. I try to be in charge of the house and protect everyone from whatever moves outside so I need a lot of desensitization and learn how to enjoy life just being a dachshund. I love walks with my gentle leader. I am doing better but need constant routine and expectations. Can you be my furever home?I am 5 yrs old, I weigh 17 pounds, my adoption fee is $350 plus sales tax 15.75 =365.75 My adoption fee helps cover all of my vetting needs such as HW test, rabies, DHPPL, Bordetella, neuter and dental.
Adoption Process
Usually we are contacted by a SD shelter about a dachshund that is not doing well (nipping etc.) and that they are going to be put down. We take them in get them vetted and then place them up for adoption after they have been evaluated. We also take calls from folks who have called their local shelter about there dachshund that may have started nipping at small children etc and are told the dog would be put down. We also take calls from other rescues about breeder dogs.
