Ernie is 1/2 of the fabulous duo Bert and Ernie, a five month old pair of Labrador mix brothers that joined us in rescue recently! Ernie is very warm and friendly when meeting new people, he has large, lovely ears just waiting for your pets! Ernie will do well in a home that can give him a little structure. After all, all puppies need a great start to make them into well-rounded adult dogs. Ernie could very easily live with other medium to large breed dogs that enjoy a playful companion, he has not met cats yet, but is likely young enough that he could be slowly introduced to a dog savvy one and live successfully with them. Ernie's adoption fee is $300 and includes his neuter, microchip, current vaccinations and preventatives, plus a free basic training course at Cedar Run in Hiawatha. Last Hope requires that all animals be kept as indoor only pets and that adopters have a history of keeping their pets altered and up to date on vaccinations and preventatives. If you are interested in meeting Ernie, please fill out an adoption application for consideration. The adoption process includes a background check, vet history check, and a home visit.
Adoption Process
Prior to adoption, all of our dogs have been tested for heartworm, current on vaccinations, micro-chipped, and spayed or neutered, if age appropriate. Our adoption process includes reference and background checks, a vet check and home visit.
The adoption fee for dogs and puppies varies.
Prior to adoption, our cats have been tested for feline leukemia, current on vaccinations, micro-chipped, and spayed or neutered, if age appropriate. If at the time of adoption, the kitten is too young to be spayed or neutered, an agreed upon time frame will be set for when this procedure is to be done. Spaying or neutering is not an optional procedure, it is required of all animals we rescue.
The adoption fee for cats and kittens varies.
