Last Hope Animal Rescue

Last Hope Animal Rescue, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Formed in March of 2004, we are an all volunteer animal rescue group comprised of foster homes in the greater Cedar Rapids area. Many of our animals come from local kill shelters, as their time has run out due to any number of reasons including lack of space, not deemed adoptable, special needs, etc. Our purpose is to save as many homeless, abused, abandoned, hard to place, neglected animals that we can and to place as many animals as possible into loving, forever homes where they will be cherished.

Meet Remy

Remy is a sweet senior guy, looking for a quiet home with lots of love and an equally easy going canine companion! In his current foster home, Remy lives very happily with other older adult dogs that are near his size. He has also lived with a larger dog and a cat and done well before, if you have these types of animals only our home already he’ll just need a proper introduction to make sure it’s a matched. Remy will most enjoy a home with owners that aren’t gone for too long, but he’ll be glad to have a fellow dog (or two!) to keep him company while you’re away. Remy does take daily medications that he will need to continue on long term, and while he is potty trained he does wear a belly band if his foster family is gone for a full work day. If you have room in your pack, and on your couch, for a smart and friendly pup, Remy will enjoy your company and give you plenty of reasons to smile with his delightful personality!      Remy's adoption fee is $250 and includes his neuter, microchip, current vaccinations and preventatives as well as a current heartworm test.  Also included is a free basic training class through Cedar Run Company in Hiawatha!  Remy is seeking an indoor only home, and Last Hope requires that adopters with a history of having owned animals show that they have kept all animals as indoor pets only, altered and kept current on vaccinations and preventatives.  Our adoption process includes a vet history check and a home visit.  If you would like to meet Remy, please submit an adoption application through our website to inquire!

Adoption Process
Prior to adoption, all of our dogs have been tested for heartworm, current on vaccinations, micro-chipped, and spayed or neutered, if age appropriate. Our adoption process includes reference and background checks, a vet check and home visit. The adoption fee for dogs and puppies varies. Prior to adoption, our cats have been tested for feline leukemia, current on vaccinations, micro-chipped, and spayed or neutered, if age appropriate. If at the time of adoption, the kitten is too young to be spayed or neutered, an agreed upon time frame will be set for when this procedure is to be done. Spaying or neutering is not an optional procedure, it is required of all animals we rescue. The adoption fee for cats and kittens varies.

Look for other dogs for adoption!
