Last Hope Animal Rescue

Last Hope Animal Rescue, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Formed in March of 2004, we are an all volunteer animal rescue group comprised of foster homes in the greater Cedar Rapids area. Many of our animals come from local kill shelters, as their time has run out due to any number of reasons including lack of space, not deemed adoptable, special needs, etc. Our purpose is to save as many homeless, abused, abandoned, hard to place, neglected animals that we can and to place as many animals as possible into loving, forever homes where they will be cherished.

Meet Ziva

Hello! My name is Ziva. If you're looking for a fun-loving, energetic, and goofy girl, then I am your girl! Shortly after was born I was diagnosed with a condition called Megaesophagus, This brought me into the Rescue and to my medical foster mom who had to help me grow! My Megaesophagus does not slow anything down about me other than my eating and drinking! I need a little extra time to eat and require a special chair called a Bailey chair to sit in while eating, or my food will not be able to fully get through my XL esophagus causing me to vomit. My Foster mom says that since l like my Bailey chair so much it gets to come with me to my future family! Unfortunately, the veterinarians that I have visited with have confirmed that I have a very severe case of Mega E, so will require prescription medication and prescription food long term.    I love to go on walks, learn new tricks, and make new dog and human friends! I have tried to make friends with cats but sometimes I get a little too excited to meet them, and they don't appreciate me licking them to say hi. I know I require a little extra attention but I just know my perfect family is out there waiting for me!   Ziva has been given a very guarded prognosis due to the severity of her condition. She may ultimately not live a long life, but she certainly has quality of life and lots of love to share with a dedicated and patient caregiver. The rescue has been advised the Ziva is not a candidate for a spay surgery given that anesthesia would be very hard on her.   Ziva's adoption fee is $300 and includes her microchip, current vaccinations and preventatives.  Ziva is seeking an indoor-only home; if you would like to meet her please submit an adoption application through our website,  Last Hope requires that all animals be kept as indoor pets only, be altered and kept current on vaccinations and preventives.

Adoption Process
Prior to adoption, all of our dogs have been tested for heartworm, current on vaccinations, micro-chipped, and spayed or neutered, if age appropriate. Our adoption process includes reference and background checks, a vet check and home visit. The adoption fee for dogs and puppies varies. Prior to adoption, our cats have been tested for feline leukemia, current on vaccinations, micro-chipped, and spayed or neutered, if age appropriate. If at the time of adoption, the kitten is too young to be spayed or neutered, an agreed upon time frame will be set for when this procedure is to be done. Spaying or neutering is not an optional procedure, it is required of all animals we rescue. The adoption fee for cats and kittens varies.

Look for other dogs for adoption!
