Meet Bert – Your Future Couch Cuddler! This big, goofy sweetheart is an almost 6-month-old hound mix with a heart as big as his paws! He's going to be a large dog when fully grown and is already showing signs of being a gentle giant in the making. Bert is a total cuddle bug who loves nothing more than snuggling up on the couch after a good play session. He sleeps soundly through the night and gets along great with other dogs. Still young and learning, he needs continued help with socialization and understanding boundaries—but he's eager to please and picks things up quickly with the right guidance. If you're looking for a loyal, loving companion who will grow right into your heart (and maybe onto your lap!), Bert might just be the perfect fit. Bert's adoption fee is $300 and includes his neuter, microchip, current vaccinations and preventatives, plus a free basic training course at Cedar Run in Hiawatha. Last Hope requires that all animals be kept as indoor only pets and that adopters have a history of keeping their pets altered and up to date on vaccinations and preventatives. If you are interested in meeting Bert, please fill out an adoption application for consideration. The adoption process includes a background check, vet history check, and a home visit.
Adoption Process
Prior to adoption, all of our dogs have been tested for heartworm, current on vaccinations, micro-chipped, and spayed or neutered, if age appropriate. Our adoption process includes reference and background checks, a vet check and home visit.
The adoption fee for dogs and puppies varies.
Prior to adoption, our cats have been tested for feline leukemia, current on vaccinations, micro-chipped, and spayed or neutered, if age appropriate. If at the time of adoption, the kitten is too young to be spayed or neutered, an agreed upon time frame will be set for when this procedure is to be done. Spaying or neutering is not an optional procedure, it is required of all animals we rescue.
The adoption fee for cats and kittens varies.
