Emmet County Animal Shelter

We live in a primarily rural area with a 50% poverty level and 40% non Caucasian/transient population. Due to the farmer mentality or disposable mentality of our area many pets find them selves homeless due to no fault of their own. We take in animals that are neglected, abandon, injured or just unwanted. We rehabilitate them and then re-home them through our adoption process. We have been solely foster based since 2010 and are currently building our new facility. We do it all with volunteers and we do it because we love it! The animals deserve better and we try our best to offer them that by doing what we can, when we can, the best we can, with what we have and with all our heart.

Meet Kayne

***The first step in the adoption process is to complete the adoption application at www.emmetcountyanimalshelter.org** Extra-Large is the biggest option we have in our system and this boy fits!  If there was a Holy Moly big guy option we probably would have chosen that!  Kayne might be big on the outside but his insides are very small.  He is a sweet and sensitive guy and he was actually found running around town with his little friend Posey the chihuahua when a good samaritan picked them up.  Kayne is young and although he sure tries, he's maybe not really bright!  Or at least maybe he's just playing dumb so we all think he's super silly!  He needs some training and although we do attempt to work with the dogs at the shelter, there's always more to do in a day than time to do it all!  So Kayne is more of a work in process kind of pup! At just a year old this big guy has even more growing and filling out to do.  We do presume he is a Great Dane and probably Mastiff mix (neither breed is known for their smarts usually!) so be prepared to put some work in with this dude to help him grow into a good good boy that knows how to do all the stuff! Kayne will need continued work on obedience training, house training and kennel training.  Kayne is neutered, has had a gastropexy surgery done (stomach tacking), up to date on vaccinations and microchipped.  His adoption fee is $300.00

Adoption Process
application, adoption fees for dogs/puppies start at $150-$300. Cats/kittens are free will offering adoptions. Contracts for adoptions must be signed. All animals (unless too young) are altered prior to adoption. If not altered a deposit is paid and given back plus a rebate after the alteration has been performed.
