Last Hope Animal Rescue

Last Hope Animal Rescue, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Formed in March of 2004, we are an all volunteer animal rescue group comprised of foster homes in the greater Cedar Rapids area. Many of our animals come from local kill shelters, as their time has run out due to any number of reasons including lack of space, not deemed adoptable, special needs, etc. Our purpose is to save as many homeless, abused, abandoned, hard to place, neglected animals that we can and to place as many animals as possible into loving, forever homes where they will be cherished.

Meet Kevin

Welcome to the wonderful world of Kevin, where we are always happy! Kevin is a young, friendly, active dog. He is estimated to be around 1 or 2 years old. As close as we can guess, he appears to be a Rottweiler- Labrador cross. He is as sweet as they come- he loves treats, big slobbery kisses and sitting in his person's lap while watching tv. Fair warning, he weighs about 88 pounds, and its hard to see the television over his head, but if you are looking for a giant lap dog, Kevin will do his best to please! Kevin is crate trained, and a very peaceful and quiet boy when he needs to be crated. Kevin loves other dogs and very much wants to play with them, but he needs another active dog friend to play with as he is very physical when playing. Kevin is very respectful of people, but he is young so he sometimes forgets how strong he is. He is working on not jumping to greet people. He is smart, athletic, loving, and would make a great partner for life! He'll thoroughly enjoy a home with a fenced in yard as he is still working on his leash manners and he's quite strong after all, a yard will give him a safe outlet to burn some energy off so he can return to his couch potato ways!   Kevin's adoption fee is $250 and includes his neuter, microchip, current vaccines and monthly preventatives. Also included in the adoption fee is a basic training course at Cedar Run Company in Hiawatha! Kevin is seeking an indoor only home, if you would like to meet him please submit an adoption application on our website.  Last Hope requires that adopters have a history of having kept their pets as indoor animals only, altered and kept current on vaccines and preventatives. Our adoption process includes a vet history check and a home visit.

Adoption Process
Prior to adoption, all of our dogs have been tested for heartworm, current on vaccinations, micro-chipped, and spayed or neutered, if age appropriate. Our adoption process includes reference and background checks, a vet check and home visit. The adoption fee for dogs and puppies varies. Prior to adoption, our cats have been tested for feline leukemia, current on vaccinations, micro-chipped, and spayed or neutered, if age appropriate. If at the time of adoption, the kitten is too young to be spayed or neutered, an agreed upon time frame will be set for when this procedure is to be done. Spaying or neutering is not an optional procedure, it is required of all animals we rescue. The adoption fee for cats and kittens varies.

Look for other dogs for adoption!
