Last Hope Animal Rescue

Last Hope Animal Rescue, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Formed in March of 2004, we are an all volunteer animal rescue group comprised of foster homes in the greater Cedar Rapids area. Many of our animals come from local kill shelters, as their time has run out due to any number of reasons including lack of space, not deemed adoptable, special needs, etc. Our purpose is to save as many homeless, abused, abandoned, hard to place, neglected animals that we can and to place as many animals as possible into loving, forever homes where they will be cherished.

Meet Bruiser

Bruiser is a little guy with a big name! At just 5.5 pounds, Bruiser is all lap dog and definitely enjoys the company of his people! He would love a home with a fenced in yard to explore and keep him safe. In his foster home Bruiser has had a great time playing with other small dogs, so he would benefit from a home with an equally young and playful companion! Bruiser does not seem to be a barker, he is nearly potty trained and does well in the kennel if left alone for a few hours.  He enjoys snuggling in close at night, and is even a bit of a cover hog! Bruiser really enjoys the companionship of his foster mom, so would be best suited to a home with an owner who isn't gone long hours during the day for work. Bruiser loves laying in the front window, basking in the sun and watching the world outside go by.  He will make a terrific addition to a home seeking an XS dog with an XL heart! Bruiser is estimated to be about 1.5 years old, we believe that he may be a yorkie/poodle mix but cannot say for certain what his breed is.   Bruiser's adoption fee is $300 and includes his neuter, microchip, current vaccinations, heartworm testing and monthly preventative.  Bruiser is seeking an indoor only home, please submit an adoption application for consideration if you would like to meet Bruiser! Last Hope requires that adopters who have had pets have a history of having kept them altered, as indoor pets and kept current on all vaccines and preventatives. Our adoption process includes a vet history check and a home visit.

Adoption Process
Prior to adoption, all of our dogs have been tested for heartworm, current on vaccinations, micro-chipped, and spayed or neutered, if age appropriate. Our adoption process includes reference and background checks, a vet check and home visit. The adoption fee for dogs and puppies varies. Prior to adoption, our cats have been tested for feline leukemia, current on vaccinations, micro-chipped, and spayed or neutered, if age appropriate. If at the time of adoption, the kitten is too young to be spayed or neutered, an agreed upon time frame will be set for when this procedure is to be done. Spaying or neutering is not an optional procedure, it is required of all animals we rescue. The adoption fee for cats and kittens varies.

Look for other dogs for adoption!
