Looking for a dog who is the ultimate homebody? Meet Jupiter! She is a pit mix who is approximately 3 years old. She came to us as a stray with heartworm and was the BEST girl throughout treatment. Now she’s healed and ready to find her forever home! You know how some people are immediately warm and bubbly and others need a minute to warm up to you and let you in? Same with dogs! Jupiter is definitely a “slow burn” - she’s a little shy and watches from a distance for a little while, but once she warms up and is comfortable around you she’s incredibly sweet and snuggly and playful. Her foster attests that it is SUPER rewarding when she comes out of her shell! Jupiter lives with other dogs of all sizes and is great with them. She would love to have a dog friend to be a sidekick to and snuggle with! She’s friendly and playful but also takes cues from other dogs when they don’t want to play. Some dogs are “patio dogs” and love to be out and about. Jupiter is more of a “backyard dog” and just loves to hang out at home If you want a dog that loves hanging out and is just happy to be invited - Jupiter is your girl!
Adoption Process
Applicants must fill out an application at www.adoptapitrescue.org/apply. We screen all applications, with approved applicants passing a vet and landlord check. All pets in the home must be spayed/neutered and up to date on all vaccinations and on year-round heartworm preventative. Non-homeowners must have permission from their landlord to have a dog. Once approved, we schedule a home visit, where an adoption representative takes the dog to the adopter's home to see if the dog is a good fit for the family and other pets, as well as verify the home is a safe environment for the dog. If everyone feels the dog is a good fit, a contract is signed, adoption fee is paid, and the family takes possession of the dog, unless other arrangements are made. Typical adoption fees are $175 for adult dogs and $200 for puppies. We reserve the right to charge different fees for "designer" breeds. All of our dogs are spayed/neutered, up to date on age appropriate vaccinations, heartworm tested, and on heartworm preventative at the time of adoption. All dogs have been examined by our veterinarian and given a clean bill of health at the time of adoption.
