Sweet Dream House Rescue

Sweet Dream House Rescue, Inc. is a non-profit, no kill, all volunteer, all breed animal rescue. We utilize a network of foster homes for pets ready for adoption. Our mission is to rescue homeless and abandoned animals, to spay/neuter, vaccinate and provide any needed medical care until they are adopted into loving homes. We are often the rescue of last resort, waiting until other rescues select from the euthansia lists to rescue those that are not selected.

Meet Dusty 2025

Look deeply into my eyes. They look a little intense, right? That, dear potential new mom or dad, is how intensely I will love you forever if you'll give me a new home.  My name is DUSTY and people tell me I look like a Boston Terrier/Beagle mix. Whatever, all I know is I'm a handsome guy, everybody says so. I'm about 2 years old. You're probably wondering how I got here. My brother Bearclaw and I were dearly loved pets. Then one day we landed in doggie jail as something called an owner surrender. We have always been very good boys so we have no idea why we were dumped in jail. We were so scared because the shelter was overcrowded and we were afraid we weren't going to make it out alive.  A very nice lady showed up and got my brother and me out of the jail and told us everything was going to be alright. Boy were we lucky.  Now it's time to find me a new home. I'm an easygoing, medium energy kind of guy. I like to noodle around in the yard. I also like food. And snacks. And more snacks. The ladies here at the rescue tell me I'm kinda fat. I prefer to call myself pleasingly plump. But when I stepped on the scale and saw that I weigh 37 pounds I was shocked!! I'd like to drop maybe 8 pounds so I can move around and play more.  I've never known life as an only dog, so I need to go to a home with another friendly dog. Ideally, I'd be so so happy to find a home where I can live with my brother Bearclaw. He's just like me, except I'm more handsome! Don't tell him I said that, he's a little sensitive. We're what you humans call fraternal twins, we're twins but not identical. Bearclaw is kind of a camera hog, he kept photo bombing all my pictures. If you think I sound like the perfect new family member and want to meet me, please fill out a dog adoption application on this thing called a website, dreamhouserescue.org. The people here say they will set up something called a private meet, whatever that is. I think it's like a date but you bring me treats. I'll also be at the Sweet Dream House Rescue adoption event, Saturday noon-2 at PetSmart Eastgate. All our fully-vetted adoptable dogs go to prospective homes for a one-week trial period to make sure the dog and home are the right fit before an adoption is finalized. We only adopt dogs into homes where all current pets are spayed/neutered and current on vaccines and heartworm and flea and tick prevention. We do check veterinary references to make sure adopters are compliant with standard veterinary care. Our adoptable dogs are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, heartworm tested, dewormed and current on flea and tick and heartworm prevention.

Adoption Process
We offer Foster To Adopt for dogs adoptions. You must complete the application, be approved and pay a $100 deposit ($150 puppies). You can then take the dog home for a trial visit of up to one week This will help you determine if you and the dog are the right match. If yes, then you can finalize the adoption. If no, then you return the dog to us and you are welcome to try a different dog. complete the necessary paperwork and pay a $100 deposit for adult dogs and $150 for puppies (cash, check or credit card). This fee is non-refundable, and will be applied to the adoption fee if you decide to finalize the adoption. The adoption fee includes the dog's spay/neuter surgery, parvo/distemper shots and rabies shots (for dogs over 6 months), deworming, microchipping, flea and tick protection, heartworm testing (for dogs over 6 months), and monthly heartworm protection until the dog gets adopted.
