GILLIAN is a sweet, gentle girl whose goal in life is to find the perfect couch on which to pursue life as a potato. Yes, Gillian's ambition is to be a well-loved couch potato. She likes to run and play outdoors with her dog buddies (Jonah is her fave), but when playtime is over, Gillian loves to cuddle up with her people for a good snuggle session. She is housebroken and crate trained and fine with cats and kids 10 and up -- younger kids make her nervous. She appears to be mostly beagle, but we suspect there is some Basset Hound in her family tree that gives her those short stubby legs. She is around 5 years old and fully grown at 26 lbs. Standard beagle rules apply -- Gillian must go to a home with a physically-fenced yard to keep her from following her beagle nose into trouble. Gillian is currently undergoing treatment for heartworms and needs to remain local to complete her treatment. If you'd like to meet Gillian, please fill out a dog adoption application at dreamhouserescue.org. We are happy to arrange a private meet with an approved adopter, or you can meet her at our weekly adoption event, Saturday noon-2 at PetSmart Eastgate. Gillian will go to an adoptive home on an extended trial period, her adoption will not be finalized until she has completed heartworm treatment with our vet. All of our fully-vetted adoptable dogs go to prospective homes for a one-week trial period to make sure the dog and home are the right fit before an adoption is finalized. We only adopt dogs into homes where all current pets are spayed/neutered and current on vaccines and heartworm and flea and tick prevention. We do check veterinary references to make sure adopters are compliant with standard veterinary care. Our adoption fee covers the dog’s veterinary care, including spay/neuter surgery, vaccines, microchip, deworming, flea and tick prevention, heartworm prevention and any other needed veterinary care. A deposit is required to take a dog home for a trial period. The deposit will be applied to the dog’s final adoption fee
