Meet Wapiti
Wapiti, is a young, playful and affectionate, 60 lb. coonhound/pointer mix. Found as a stray at Elk Creek Lake, his name means ‘white rump elk’ in Native American Shawnee. Like an elk, he can gracefully jump a 3-foot gate so a home with a 5 ft fence would be ideal. He would make a great companion for an active family requiring regular walks and playtime to prevent boredom but also enjoys lounging on the couch. He actively seeks out belly rubs and is eager to please. We continue to work on his manners and so far, he can sit, come and lay down which entails gently sliding to the ground. He has a unique howl which he exhibits when he spots a squirrel or rabbit. He's friendly with both the resident dog and cats and recently attended a doggie daycare which he passed with flying colors. Wapiti is neutered, crate trained, microchipped, and UTD on vaccines. Estimated DOB 1/1/24.
