Meet Lulu

Lulu is a delightfully charming, affectionate, smart young lady who will immediately win you over with kisses and a calm demeanor. She has beautiful wavy black fur, more white on her front paws than back paws, white on her face, tip of her tail, chest and collar area. Lulu was likely born in mid April 2023 and at 5 months old is 26 pounds.  Lulu is being fostered in Long Beach, Indiana. Lulu is amazing with my two Border Collies: Enzo male/6 and Josie female/7-1/2. Lots of play time with balls and frisbees, wrestling, tug of war, running on the nearby golf course, exploring fenced-in backyard. She has met other dogs and is incredibly friendly. I have several neighbor children nearby and Lulu responds well to them; they love to hold her leash while I walk the other two dogs. I do walk all three dogs and she has figured out quickly how to walk in a pack. We visit my 80 year old neighbor daily and, if he was more physically fit, Lulu would be claimed! She snuggles with him, asks to sit in his lap, and sits at his feet, just watching the world go by. Curious is a good word to describe Lulu. We have deer and squirrels in our neighborhood. My two dogs are not reactive (I say “hey mama” and we walk on by). Lulu is very interested and will need work to keep her attention on her owner, not the deer and squirrels. Her curiosity as a puppy is sweet: just this week she discovered acorns on the ground and planes in the sky. She loves my screened in front porch with the buzzing hummingbirds. Cars, golf carts, people, dogs walking by fascinate her. It’s early afternoon and all three dogs are resting. Neighbors have commented on her calm demeanor; when we visit, she says hello and oft-times just lays down to watch what’s happening. Crate and potty training are very successful. Lulu is in her crate in the evening from about 10:30pm to 6:30am and has not had a single accident; she will bark for a few minutes, then settles in for the night. I am outside quite often so she has many occasions for potty and does extremely well with very few accidents in the house. She will grab socks and shoes if given the opportunity, but putting things out of her reach has solved that problem (she is a bone chewer so I make sure she has several around the house). There has been no destructive behavior on her part but certain areas of the house are gated to keep temptation and puppy teeth away from damaging anything. Lulu and my two dogs are fed separately and she learned quickly where to run and wait for her food. She sits for treats and when otherwise asked to do so. We are working on paw, down and quit. She is curious about what is on the kitchen counter, I tell her off and keep food items pushed back so she cannot reach anything. Training is a must with Lulu: she is smart and wants to learn and be a good girl. My fenced in yard is a huge plus so no worries about where she is when she gets tired of playing with and chasing the two dogs. A fenced in yard would be important for her safety until her obedience training is successful. Her joy with other dogs would make her a good candidate to be in another-dog household (she has not had exposure to cats). Lulu’s general joy of life would make her an excellent companion for someone with an active lifestyle who has the time to train this beautiful girl! She has been a love to foster but Lulu is seeking her forever home!     Please contact [email protected]  if you have any questions about Lulu.  You can complete an application to adopt Lulu or any of the dogs on our website at www.comebyebcrescue.org     ***  The potential adoptor will get a refund on the Application Fee if it’s determined by the Foster Parent that it’s not a good match for the dog and the dog for them, if we do not process their application.

Adoption Process
Adoption process includes completing an application, having personal references checked, vet checks and home visit by one of our volunteers. Your application and backup information is then presented to the Board/Committee for review. Once your application has been approved, you may then schedule a meeting with the dog(s) in which you are interested. The foster home has the final approval on the adoption of his or her dog.
