Gus

Perry County Humane Society of Illinois

We are a no kill shelter who aims to educate the public about responsible pet ownership & the importance of spaying and neutering pets. We encourage people to adopt pets instead of shopping for pets! We promote keeping pets healthy through routine vet care, getting adequate nutrition and exercise, and we recruit volunteers on a regular basis to work with our animals. We have very few employees (only 2 currently) and run almost entirely on a volunteer staff.

Meet Gus

Sweet Gus came to us as a Code Red dog. We are already seeing him settle in and relax a bit. We are so glad we could save his life, but the work has only just begun! Now we need to get him neutered and find him a good home! He gets the zoomies and likes to run! This might be from spending time cooped up in a kennel without any exercise. If you look in his eyes, you can see how sweet and loving he is. Gus wants to share his love and find his forever person. Apply online or come visit during open hours to apply in person. We are open Sat and Sunday 2 to 4 pm or by appointment with an approved application.

Adoption Process
Applicants must apply and pass a thorough screening process, which includes vet and personal reference checks. They must sign contracts and pay an adoption fee.

Look for other dogs for adoption!
