Wish Bone Canine Rescue

several people broke off from a local rescue that had become, in our opinion, too much about prestige and money. They also weren't doing a good job in caring for the pets physically and mentally. We want to focus on the quality of our work, not quantity. We do rescue simply because it's the right thing to do! I am a certified vet tech so i've always thought that it's kind of my duty to share my talents.

Meet Gus

Meet Gus, a vibrant 2.5-year-old Terrier mix with a zest for life! Gus is a housetrained pup who thrives on being around his beloved humans. While he tolerates a crate, he much prefers the freedom to roam and cuddle up wherever he pleases, especially with his people. This energetic boy is seeking an active home that can keep up with his love for outdoor adventures. Gus adores hikes and long walks and might even make a great running partner for someone who enjoys a good jog. However, he does require further training and positive reinforcement, particularly when it comes to his reactivity to cars, bikes, and other motorized vehicles. Gus's ideal home would be one without young children, but he would thrive in the company of dog savvy kids 12 years and older - simply because he can be jumpy and nippy. He hasn't a lot of exposure to young kids. He loves his toys and bully sticks, but he needs supervision around other dogs due to his possessive nature. Feeding separately from other dogs is necessary to ensure harmony during meal times. Described as confident and happy, Gus has enormous potential with the right guidance and structure. He has attended two classes, showing interest in agility, but would benefit from continued mental and physical stimulation to help him thrive. While he is not suited for a home with small dogs or cats, he could potentially coexist with one or two similarly sized, respectful canine companions, with proper monitoring. Although Gus exhibits reactivity on walks, he's capable of making significant progress with consistent training. His trainer is even offering three free sessions to help kickstart his journey towards becoming the best version of himself. Gus needs someone patient and committed to helping him overcome his challenges while enjoying all the love and fun he has to offer. If you're ready to welcome this sweet, spirited companion into your life, Gus could be the perfect match for you! His minimum adoption fee is $145 plus a $15 fee, if 4 months or older, for rabies registration for McLean County residents. He has been neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, heartworm checked, dewormed, and is on flea and heartworm preventatives.
