Meet Poppy

Poppy is a 4 month old female Lab mix who weighs in at 16 pounds.  This pup's adoption fee is $450.  If you are still interested, please read more below. Poppy is adorable!  She is getting used to being around her foster family and the resident Corgi. She tends to follow the 4 and 6 yr old humans around interested in what they are doing. She’s trying to figure out the 3 year old Corgi who is also female. She might do better in a home without another dog or with a male dog — it also might be the bossy personality of the Corgi she’s trying to figure out (as she likes to steal bones and lay on top of them) — this causes Poppy to bark as if she is telling on the Corgi. They love to play hide and seek inside the house and in the backyard. Overall, she’s extremely sweet, playful, shy and gentle. She’s all things puppy right now and needs supervision, frequent potty breaks and socialization. She loves to collect shoes and keep them in the dog bed or her crate. She’s learning to go potty in the backyard and sleeping at night in a crate next to the Corgi’s crate. Poppy experiences zoomies in the morning and evening and would benefit from a fenced in backyard and someone home the majority  of the day. She’s expressive with her cute paws placing them on a human when cuddling or on top of the Corgi’s head. She loves to have her belly rubbed while cuddling on the couch. Poppy can’t wait to be your best friend!  This pup is micro-chipped, up to date on all vaccinations, and has an appointment to be spayed on April 12th.  If adopted prior, the adopter will need to agree to bring Poppy to her scheduled spay appointment, which will be covered by ARF. The new family will be required to complete a basic obedience course of their choosing.  Please note ARF does not approve applications for any puppy under 6 months of age to families that live outside of Illinois and/or beyond 100 miles of Wheaton or Glen Ellyn, IL.  A meeting will not be scheduled until you have an approved application, so if you're interested in adopting this pup fill out an online application today!  https://www.arf-il.org/adopt/application/  Once your application has been approved, an ARF volunteer will contact you to arrange a meeting.  ARF is an all volunteer organization.  Due to a high volume of applications, we are often unable to respond to questions until your application has been approved.  Thank you for your patience!

Adoption Process
Read more about our adoption process on our website at: https://www.arf-il.org/adopt/ Adoption fees depend on the animal. Please see the pet’s biography for information on their adoption fee. Below is an overview of what you can expect during the pet adoption process: Step 1: Submit an online adoption application at https://www.arf-il.org/adopt/application/ Step 2: Our volunteers will review your application and reach out with a status. This step can take up to five business days. Step 3: If your application is approved you will be invited to meet with the cat or dog you are interested in at a mutually agreed upon time and location. Step 4: We’ll walk you through the benefits of adopting through A.R.F., then complete the adoption paperwork and collect the adoption fee. Then your new best friend is yours! Step 5: Complete required follow-ups such as obedience training or spay/neuter (if delayed due to medical reasons).

Look for other dogs for adoption!
