Mars is a 56.3-pound, 2-year-old Labrador Retriever mix who’s ready to launch himself straight into your heart! This sweet, playful young guy is as lovable as they come—with a fun personality, a sharp mind, and a whole lot of charm packed into one wiggly body. Mars is a social butterfly who loves people and other dogs alike. He’s especially fond of toys and enjoys nothing more than a good play session with his best buddy, Polo. Whether he’s zooming around the yard or rolling over in submission during doggy play, Mars knows how to keep things fun and friendly. When meeting new dogs, he does amazingly well and brings an easygoing energy that makes him a great playmate. Smart as a whip, Mars already knows sit, shake, and lay, and he’s quick to learn new things—especially when there’s a treat involved! He’s still a young pup at heart and can get a little jumpy when excited, but he's also incredibly responsive. In fact, when you turn your back, he often calms down all on his own. He’s eager to please and will thrive with a bit of consistent training and structure. While we're not officially marking Mars as housetrained just yet, we can tell you that he keeps his run at the shelter spotless—a great sign that he’s on the right track and ready to continue learning good habits in a home environment. His minimum adoption fee is $300 plus a $15 fee, if 4 months or older, for rabies registration for McLean County residents. He has been neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, heartworm checked, dewormed, and is on flea and heartworm preventatives.
