Wish Bone Canine Rescue

several people broke off from a local rescue that had become, in our opinion, too much about prestige and money. They also weren't doing a good job in caring for the pets physically and mentally. We want to focus on the quality of our work, not quantity. We do rescue simply because it's the right thing to do! I am a certified vet tech so i've always thought that it's kind of my duty to share my talents.

Meet Nala

Nala is a one-year-old mixed breed who weighs about 37 pounds and has already proven to be a true survivor. She spent the early months of her life raising her puppies in an abandoned house, venturing out each day to find enough food to nourish herself and her babies. Her name, which means "successful and blessed," perfectly reflects her strength and resilience. Against the odds, Nala kept her little family safe and healthy until help arrived, and now it’s her turn to be cared for and cherished. Despite everything she has been through, Nala is incredibly loving, loyal, and happy. She adores people of all ages, including children, and she gets along well with other dogs and even cats—though she may bark to invite them to play. Her personality is friendly, outgoing, confident, and adaptable, and she settles beautifully into a home environment. Nala is house and crate trained, enjoys snuggling on the couch, and loves spending time with her human and canine companions. In her foster home, Nala has shown she’s a playful and joyful girl who enjoys tug of war, chasing her dog friends around the yard, chewing on bones, and engaging with any toy she can find. She may need a couple of days to adjust to a new dog friend, especially if they are particularly active, but once she feels comfortable, she becomes a loyal and lively playmate. She also enjoys going for walks and soaking up time outside. Nala is heartworm positive and has already started treatment. Wish Bone will continue to provide treatment through our vet for local adopters or by supplying the necessary medication for the adopter’s vet to administer. This sweet and courageous girl has come so far, and now she’s ready to find a forever family who will give her the safe, loving home she so deeply deserves. Her minimum adoption fee is $300 plus a $15 fee, if 4 months or older, for rabies registration for McLean County residents. She has been spayed, microchipped, vaccinated, heartworm checked, dewormed, and is on flea and heartworm preventatives.
