Northern Star Dog Rescue

Northern Star Dog Rescue is a foster based rescue who pulls dogs from euthanasia that have less than 20 mins to live. We also take in dogs that have came from hoarding cases, have severe neglect and abuse, fear, and health. We work hard rehabilitating them and then find them amazing homes.

Meet Coal

Coal is true to his name in being only at the first step towards becoming a shining diamond. In his case it is guidance and encouragement, not pressure, that will get him there. He is friendly and sociable though worried about strangers at first. He is loyal and listens to his humans. Coal has the makings of a great companion! He is a little shy at first and will bark but warms up quickly. Then he is always by your side.  Even though Coal looks like a lab in pics, I assure you the Dane is obvious; seeing him in person changes everything. He is smaller than a purebred Dane. Coal is just a big baby at around 1 years old as of the beginning of April.  He was found dumped at Utah-Az boarder. It took animal control 3 weeks to trap him.  He doesn’t quite understand his own size as is so often the case with this breed/these breeds, especially while young, and though friendly to other dogs can overwhelm all but the most hardy. Providing regular sessions of vigorous exercise can really help keep him calmer around the house and when socializing. Teaching Coal to not jump will help a lot. He is still puppy just a big one at that. Coal has been great with kids though again he may overwhelm the littler ones. He is selective with dogs: Some he is just fine with and others he is very reactive to - cream colored seems to be a trigger. He is good with some cats but doesn't understand his size. If you are interested in adopting him, please fill out the pre-adoption application for Northern Star Dog Rescue on Linktree, https://linktr.ee/northernstardogrescue

Adoption Process
Our adoption process is first filling out a pre-adoption application. once we receive a background check, home check, and fence line check are done. Once that has been done then we contact you and talk about who your interested in and set up a meet and greet. All humans and other canines must meet. If the meet and greet go well and the potential adopters want to move forward to adoption trial they can. We do a mandatory two week trial. At the end of the trial should the potential adopters want to finalize then we proceed by the adoption agreement filled out, adoption fee paid, all medical records given and transfer the chip. We also have an adopters group that we love people to join so we can stay in touch with our furry friends and see their adventures.

Look for other dogs for adoption!
