Meet Huckleberry
Say hello to Huckleberry! Huck for short! He is a 1 year old retriever mix. Some of you may remember this handsome fella from a couple weeks ago. Huck got adopted to a wonderful lady, and unfortunately despite her best efforts it was not the best fit for him. We have learned a few things about him that we didn't know before. Huckleberry does ok with cats when he's on a leash however off leash he will go after them so it is best that he goes to a home without them. Huck is also absolutely terrified of men we aren't sure exactly why other than he hasn't been around them a lot. He does fine with them visiting at the shelter but in public he will panic and try to bolt. We will be working with him on and some of his other anxiety driven issues in the coming weeks. If you are interested in meeting him, please call us at 208-245-7387. Adoption includes all vaccinations, worming, flea and ear mite treatment, spay/neuter and any medical treatment needed while staying with us, and they also come with a full check up from a veterinarian
Adoption Process
We ask various questions like what are you looking for in an animal, do you rent or own your own home. If you rent we need a letter from you landlord saying it is ok for you to get a dog or a cat. We have an application that we will have you fill out if you are coming to adopt a dog or a cat. We ask if they have any other animals so we know what ones would be the best fit for them.
Adoption fees include a health screening, neuter/spay, vaccinations, de-worming, microchip (dogs only), and other medications as needed. Our fees are lower than other animal shelters in the surrounding areas. Our goal is to find great homes and great matches for our animals and the families adopting.
Our adoption fees are $65 for kittens or a cat. $150 for a puppy or a dog.
Our requirements are you must be 18 or older to adopt, show ID. If they have a dog and are looking to get another dog we ask them to bring their dog to do a meet and greet so we know that the dogs will get along.
Then they do sign a contract that says they are going to provide for them food, water and shelter. Taking them to the vet if they need it.
