Meet Archie - In Foster

Archie is in a foster home. Here's what his foster family has to say about him.  He has been such a joy to foster.  We've been showering him with love and cuddles and trying our best to give him the exercise he needs.  Sometimes he'll try to be a lap dog and will try to find a way to throw himself across you while you're sitting.   He is very loyal and has to be around people at home. He loves to be right at your side when it's time to settle down. He likes to follow any of our family members around the home.   Archie now knows how to sit and give you paw on command. He has A LOT of energy and oftentimes will jump when he's excited. I think he thinks he's smaller than he is.   He will need lots of exercise every day and definitely a large yard to run in. He gets 2 walks on most days and plenty of time in the sunshine running with his toys in the yard. He loves when we toss a ball or his other toys. He hasn't quite mastered how to drop or return them yet. But he seems like he could do it for hours if you let him. He also loves the zoomies and is quite athletic. He does seem to get separation anxiety if we need to leave him home to go drop the kids off at school or run to the grocery store.  When we do leave on these short occasions, and we've attempted to leave him to roam to a limited area on our downstairs floor.  Unfortunately, he tends to ignore his toys and will go straight to chew on household items instead. However, he doesn't touch anything other than his toys when someone is around.   He does sleep in a crate at night and does just fine when it's time to sleep. He rarely barks and is completely potty trained. He loves going for car rides. We have a smaller dog we rescued many years ago. Archie gets along with her just fine. However, because Archie is a little clumsy around her, he can sometimes walk over her and inadvertently pushes her around.   I've heard him bark and have a small growl towards bigger dogs (they were big labs) during a walk. But he doesn't have this reaction with all dogs.   All dogs are vaccinated, microchipped and spayed or neutered (if they are old enough) before they leave the shelter. Please fill out an application if you are interested in this dog or call us today for more information     Because Archie is in a foster home, please call ahead to schedule a time to meet him. The foster family will bring him to the shelter.   Pet Adoption League  1526 N.
