Releashed Rescue

Releashed Rescue is a non-profit organization dedicated to rescuing working dogs from high-kill shelters, rehabilitating those that need training and rehoming them into permanent loving homes. Releashed Rescue will provide food, shelter, basic necessities, medical treatment including shots and spay or neuter, and work to train any animal going through our program. Our goal is to find the right family to love and care for the animals for their lifetime. Releashed Rescue has a vision of a world where animals are not killed because they are inconvenient. Instead, we hope to educate the public about pet over-population, spay , neuter, humane treatment of animals and how animals can enrich the lives of people including the elderly, children and those with disabilities

Meet Mallard

If it walks like a duck and talks like a duck, it may be a unicorn miniature sable German shepherd that ended up at a husky rescue named Mallard.  Discovered near an abandoned warehouse, Mallard had managed to escape from a makeshift crate that someone had left him in, with holes drilled for air. Despite his escape, he lingered nearby, waiting for his “owner” to return.    This 1-yr-old, 35-pound, Velcro fur missile is a true love machine, who was also runner-up in last week’s happiest dog on the planet contest, narrowly losing to a jubilant Husky who had just finished demolishing a couch.    Huskies….here because you love them, but believe they may be too much for you? Then Mallard may be the perfect addition to your family. Just enough fur to cover your favorite black pants, walks well on a leash, has excellent recall, above-average sniper-licking technology and an all-around super GOOD boy! Compact, great car rider, above-average dog wrestler and silent. In the 4–5 weeks he has been in foster care, not once has he ever barked, though we anticipate that when he does, it will be as charming as he is. He’s a Velcro dog, so don’t expect to go to the bathroom without him. He adores his human and canine pals, whether sitting on the porcelain throne or running a half-marathon.     He will do best in a home with at least 1 other dog (he’s good with both males and females). If he were a solo dog, a retired couple or someone who works from home would be great for Mal as, although he is an adorable, hilarious unicorn, he hails from the working-class breeds and will need a job and mental stimulation or will create his own form of entertainment.
