Southern Comfort Animal Rescue

Southern Comfort Animal Rescue, Inc. is 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization that rescues and rehomes abused, unwanted and abandoned companion animals.Southern Comfort was founded in 2001 in Savannah, Georgia, to provide shelter and find temporary foster or permanent homes for pets left behind when troops in nearby Ft. Stewart's 3rd Infantry Division shipped out to Iraq and Afghanistan. In 2006, the organization moved to Glenwood, Georgia. Southern Comfort fills a critical need in Wheeler County, which has no other rescues or animal control. We specialize in physical, social and emotional rehabilitation of our rescues. All animals are examined, vaccinated, spayed or neutered and receive any and all medical treatment before being placed in carefully screened forever homes.Southern Comfort is a "no-kill" rescue and only euthanizes in cases of irremediable suffering or vicious and dangerous animals. We also work to raise public awareness of the plight of homeless animals and promote the benefits of adopting an animal in need through community outreach and education.

Meet CoCo

***CoCo is currently located at a foster home in the Vidalia, GA area. With an approved application, she can be transported to the Ringoes, NJ area and be present for adoption at the Tractor Supply in Ringoes. An application for her adoption can be submitted at socorescue.com (no need to register or login). Questions about CoCo and/or our adoption policy should be sent to [email protected]; please do not call the rescue's number.*** After CoCo's former owner's heath declined, she was left in need of a new home. She was placed in a foster home just outside of Vidalia, GA and has interacted very well with the foster's other dogs. Her foster reports that CoCo has been excellent with her house training and is an "exceptional" dog. CoCo is also very friendly and acts as if she's never met a stranger. She loves going on long walks, snuggling up with whoever desires her affection and loves to play. She would be an excellent candidate for anyone looking for a family companion as she is also great with children.  CoCo has been fully vetted and kept up to date on her monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventatives. CoCo also interacted very well with cats at her former home.

Adoption Process
we have an adoption questionnaire as well as a contract. The only fees we charge are those we are charged for the animal (vet fees)
