Meet Ashley

LOOKING FOR A CALM HOME:  Approx. 7 years old / Approx. 23 lbs.  Hi there, I’m Ashley!  I was adopted as a puppy 7 years ago, but things didn’t work out forever in that home as I ended up at animal control.  It was discovered that I nipped my owner during the night while we slept, (I was likely started from sleep).  So, Mostly Mutts came back for me, and I arrived at the shelter overwhelmed and confused, likely because I was in a home all my life and that had been turned upside down. I’m adjusting to shelter life, but it is stressful, so I hope to be adopted soon! • OTHER DOGS/CATS/KIDS:  I haven’t met other dogs at Mostly Mutts yet, so let’s meet! / Cats unknown. / I haven’t met kids yet at Mostly Mutts, and I think I’d do best with older kids such as 15+ since I like to take things slowly and get to know you, so if you have older calm teens, let’s meet. • PERSONALITY/ENERGY LEVEL:  I can be fearful of new people, especially men and new situations, so I simply need a dog savvy confident leader who will follow the guidelines established by MM to be successful.  We’ll go over that with you and are happy to help!  Give me time to trust you and the volunteers describe me as: sweet, friendly, playful, curious, smart and a very good dog! If rushed and overwhelmed by people like I was in a home I visited for a day, I’ll nip, but I don’t want to, as I give lots of signals that I need time. / Energy level: 5-7. • SKILLS/CRATE/POTTY:  I'm in the Mostly Mutts University training program and have already mastered the ‘sit’, ‘down’, ‘stay’, ‘come’ ‘leave it’ and ‘place’ commands. I also walk well on my leash, and I look forward to learning even more! / I’m doing well in my crate at Mostly Mutts; however, I sometimes give a little growl when men walk by. / My potty manners have been good on the shelter schedule, so hopefully that will be the case in my new home, too.        • LIKES/DISLIKES: I like playing with toys, going for walks and sitting in the sun on a nice day with the nice volunteers. I’m sure we’ll find lots of other things we will enjoy doing together. / I don’t like it when people go too fast with me and don’t give me time to trust them, and I haven’t been fond of some men. I’m sure I wouldn’t like it if I didn’t get enough love, attention, exercise, and training. • MEDICAL:  I'm current on annual vaccinations, micro-chipped and spayed. I’m looking for a great home with a patient, dog-smart family to love and be loved by! My adoption fee is $299.00, and I’m located in Kennesaw, Ga.
