Southern Comfort Animal Rescue

Southern Comfort Animal Rescue, Inc. is 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization that rescues and rehomes abused, unwanted and abandoned companion animals.Southern Comfort was founded in 2001 in Savannah, Georgia, to provide shelter and find temporary foster or permanent homes for pets left behind when troops in nearby Ft. Stewart's 3rd Infantry Division shipped out to Iraq and Afghanistan. In 2006, the organization moved to Glenwood, Georgia. Southern Comfort fills a critical need in Wheeler County, which has no other rescues or animal control. We specialize in physical, social and emotional rehabilitation of our rescues. All animals are examined, vaccinated, spayed or neutered and receive any and all medical treatment before being placed in carefully screened forever homes.Southern Comfort is a "no-kill" rescue and only euthanizes in cases of irremediable suffering or vicious and dangerous animals. We also work to raise public awareness of the plight of homeless animals and promote the benefits of adopting an animal in need through community outreach and education.

Meet Eros

***Eros is currently located at and available for adoption through our rescue in GA. With an approved application, Eros can be transported north and available for adoption at the Tractor Supply in Ringoes, NJ. An application for his adoption can be submitted at socorescue.com (no need to register or login). Questions about Eros and/or our adoption process should be submitted at [email protected]; please do not call the rescue's number.*** Eros and his five siblings were surrendered to our rescue after being found, along with their mom,  as strays .  Prior to coming to our rescue, the pups spent time at a foster home and received great care. The foster offered the mom dog a home and through a grant provided by Fix GA Pets, we were able to have her spay.  In Greek mythology, Eros is the god of love. Once you get to know our Eros, you'll understand why and how he got his name! You'll also discover that Eros is a sly little fella, knowing exactly how to get exactly what he wants from you! I mean, just look at his expressions! His secret weapon: pure and simple love! Eros has received all three of his first year puppy vaccinations, been de-wormed at proper intervals and started on his monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventatives. He's also already been neutered. He's learning to walk with a leash but has not received any house training, but given how smart he seems to be, the training should be rather easy to accomplish.

Adoption Process
we have an adoption questionnaire as well as a contract. The only fees we charge are those we are charged for the animal (vet fees)
