Meet Calypso
A WONDERFUL FRIEND FOR YOU: Approx. 5 years old / Approx. 21 lbs. Hi, I’m Calypso! It was my lucky day when Mostly Mutts rescued me from animal control, because that means I am one step closer to finding my new family. I’m super grateful for the love and good care I am receiving. I came in heartworm positive, but I'll be treated for that soon and I hope to be with my new family before treatment starts. I’m now ready to find my furever home – perhaps with YOU! • OTHER DOGS/CATS/KIDS: I recently met other dogs at Mostly Mutts and got along fine with them, but I did try to mount them. I’ve just been neutered, so this should decrease over time and is very trainable, too. I think I’d like a dog buddy as I have been quiet when I’m in a room crated with other dogs. So, if you have a nice doggie at home, let’s meet! / Cats unknown. / I haven’t met kids yet at Mostly Mutts, so let’s meet and best no toddlers that I may bump over or that may fall on me. • PERSONALITY/ENERGY LEVEL: I’m a fun and friendly ‘people dog’ who is happiest when I am with my people. In fact, if I’m in a crate and can’t see people or dogs, I will protest loudly, so I should not live in an apartment/condo setting. A calming collar has helped with my kennel stress, and I have a feeling that I won’t need that once I’m settled in my new home. I do want a work-from-home or stay-at-home family member, so we’ll all be happy. The volunteers describe me as ‘the sweetest dog’, and I happily showed my fun, friendly and active side during my photo session. Affectionate and playful, I am ready to be a loving companion to a lucky family. / My energy level is 3-5, this may increase a little in my new home. • SKILLS/CRATE/POTTY: I am a student in the Mostly Mutts University training program, where I am learning lots of great commands with my trainer. I’ve mastered the ‘sit’ and ‘come’ commands so far, and I can’t wait to learn even more. Check back soon to see my progress. / The volunteers have been working with me on my crate stress, as it is not my favorite place, as it separates me from my people. / My potty habits have been good on the shelter schedule, so hopefully that will be the case in my new home, too. • LIKES/DISLIKES: I absolutely love being with people and am happy to sit on the ground next to you as we survey the world together. I enjoy playing with toys – especially the stuffed ones. Nothing beats a good belly rub when we are just chilling together. I’m sure we’ll find lots of things we like doing together! / I don’t like to be away from my people and don’t enjoy walking near traffic as it scares me. Perhaps we can find some less busy places to walk than the roads around the shelter. Otherwise, I’m sure I wouldn’t like it if I didn’t get enough love, attention, exercise, and training. • MEDICAL: I'm current on annual vaccinations, micro-chipped and neutered. Sadly, I wasn't kept on heartworm prevention in my previous home, so I'm HW positive. The good news is that I'll be treated for that in mid to late May and Mostly Mutts will cover the cost of that treatment with their vet, so local adoption please. I am looking for a loving home where I will be a cherished family member! My adoption fee is $299.00, and I’m located in Kennesaw, Ga.
Adoption Process
Mostly Mutts Animal Rescue & Adoption's Adoption Process
Our facility is currently open to the public Monday-Saturday, 11-3. We welcome you to come meet our adoptable Mutts & Kitties! Please keep in mind the following:
Many of our adoptable Mutts & Kitties are in foster homes, so please call 770-272-6888 to find out if the pet you are interested in is at our facility. With an approved application we can set up meet & greets and adoptions with a pet in foster care.
We are not yet up to full ‘staffing’ following the pandemic, so there may be times when we cannot do meet & greets or process an application on the spot.
The best first step is to submit an application via www.mostlymutts.org.
Our adoption counselors are happy to help make a great match for you and your family!
Adoption Info:
Adoptions are being scheduled for approved applicants, by appointment only.
Please submit an application through our website at www.mostlymutts.org if you are interested in one of our adoptable pets. We are receiving a large volume of applications and processing may take a little bit longer than normal. We are grateful for your interest, and an adoption counselor will be in touch as quickly as possible. Please give us 48 hours to respond before sending a follow-up email.
Don’t see a dog or cat for you on the website? Submit the application anyway!! We are taking in a large number of dogs and cats weekly.
