Meet Pierre

A VERY ACTIVE & FUN FELLOW: Approx. 4 years old / Approx. 29 lbs.  Hi, my name is Pierre!  I came to Mostly Mutts from animal control.   I was super skinny, very matted and in need of some TLC from the volunteers – even more so when I soon came down with pneumonia!  The dedicated volunteers and great  vet care nursed me back to health, and now I am ready to meet my new furever family – so excited!  I have gained 11 LBS. since my pictures here and my hair has grown back in some, so know that I am NOT a small poodle at 29 lbs., and that I will  need regular trips to the groomer.  • OTHER DOGS/CATS/KIDS:  I met another dog in my temporary foster home, and we played well together, but I did not have a submissive nature with him, so I would not want to live with a dominant natured dog as I like being the ‘top dog’. If you have a submissive natured dog that loves to play with other dogs, let’s meet! / Cats unknown. / I met a 6-year-old in my temp. foster home and liked her – I was a bit jumpy, so know that you will need to help me with that.  If you have kids, let’s meet and best no toddlers that I may bump over. • PERSONALITY/ENERGY LEVEL:  I’m a sweet guy with a fun and friendly nature that is sure to steal your heart!  Now that I have recovered from pneumonia, I’m learning to be familiar with typical household sounds. I don’t remember what my previous situation was, so when I was in my temp. foster home, some things seemed new to me.  I’m curious about sounds and activities that are unfamiliar to me , so I’ll bark a bit and then settle.  I don’t think an apartment/condo type home would be best for me as there are a lot of sounds in those homes. In my temp foster home, I could only settle when things were very quiet and everyone was finished moving around, though I was getting a little better each day. I may pick up something that interests me but isn’t mine, so I’ll need a patient family that is willing to work with me on some house manners so I can be the best dog I can be!  I’m looking forward to being a great companion that will bring lots of joy to my new family! / My energy level is 6-8, so be ready to be active with your new best friend!    • SKILLS/CRATE/POTTY:  I am a student in the Mostly Mutts University training program, where I look forward to learning lots of great doggie commands with my trainer.  I started learning the ‘sit’ command in my temp. foster home in 1 day and have had it said that “I’m a quick learner!” / My crate manners are good at Mostly Mutts and though it was not my favorite place in my temp. foster home, I did sleep well in it. / In my temp. foster home, we learned that I need help with my potty manners, so I’ll need to be a good take-out schedule to master this. When I’m outside, I did know to go potty, I just don’t signal that I need to go yet. So be prepared to teach me my potty manners.    • LIKES/DISLIKES:  I’m very playful and love playing with toys and being active and engaged with people.  I mostly bring balls back to be thrown again and I’m sure you can finish teaching me that. I also love playing with other non-dominant dogs. / I don’t like missing out on things on, so I’ll want a family that includes me in all the fun. I don’t like taking walks around a lot of traffic, so a nice quieter walking environment would be great for me. I’m sure I wouldn’t like it if I didn’t get enough love, attention, exercise, and training. • MEDICAL:  I'm current on vaccinations, micro-chipped and neutered. I have mild tartar on my teeth, so my adoptive family should consult with their vet and consider a dental cleaning in the future. I am looking for a wonderful home with a loving and patient family for life!  My adoption fee is $299.00, and I’m located in Kennesaw, Ga.
