Southern Comfort Animal Rescue

Southern Comfort Animal Rescue, Inc. is 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization that rescues and rehomes abused, unwanted and abandoned companion animals.Southern Comfort was founded in 2001 in Savannah, Georgia, to provide shelter and find temporary foster or permanent homes for pets left behind when troops in nearby Ft. Stewart's 3rd Infantry Division shipped out to Iraq and Afghanistan. In 2006, the organization moved to Glenwood, Georgia. Southern Comfort fills a critical need in Wheeler County, which has no other rescues or animal control. We specialize in physical, social and emotional rehabilitation of our rescues. All animals are examined, vaccinated, spayed or neutered and receive any and all medical treatment before being placed in carefully screened forever homes.Southern Comfort is a "no-kill" rescue and only euthanizes in cases of irremediable suffering or vicious and dangerous animals. We also work to raise public awareness of the plight of homeless animals and promote the benefits of adopting an animal in need through community outreach and education.

Meet Navi

***Navi is currently located at our rescue in Georgia but also available for adoption in the New Jersey and surrounding areas. She'll be available for adoption during our May 4-5 weekend adoption.event at Tractor Supply in Ringoes, NJ but would need to remain with her NJ foster home until the following weekend.  An application for her adoption should be submitted on our web page at socorescue.com by clicking on the Adopt tab and then following the links to the Adoption application (no need to register or login). Questions about Navi and/or our adoption policy should be sent  to [email protected]; please no phone calls.***   Navi and her nine siblings were found in a man's yard while he was out of town. The puppies were approximately 6 weeks old. The owner of the land advised the employee who found them to get rid of them or else! Though SOCO rescue was  at capacity, we were able to find a foster to save the puppies from their impending doom.  Navi and her siblings are very playful puppies. As most Labradors are, Navi is smart and has a warm, friendly temperament. Navi has been well socialized and would thrive as a single companion or in a multiple dog household. On May 7th, Navi will receive the second of her three first year "puppy" vaccinations with the third vaccine due three weeks later. After she reaches 12 weeks of age, she'll be able to receive her rabies vaccination. She has been de-wormed, treated against parasites and kept on her monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventatives. Her adopter must agree to having Navi spayed once she reaches 6 months of age and provide SoCo with verification of such. Navi will require all of her basic training.

Adoption Process
we have an adoption questionnaire as well as a contract. The only fees we charge are those we are charged for the animal (vet fees)

Look for other dogs for adoption!
