Meet Eugene

LOOKING FOR A SPECIAL FAMILY:  Approx. 5 years old / Approx. 13 lbs.  Hi, my name is Eugene!  Mostly Mutts rescued me from animal control, and I’m so thankful for that!  I’ve been a bit stressed at the shelter, but the volunteers are helping me adjust to the routine and they give me time to get to know them, which I like.  Now I’m ready to find my new family and I look forward to being in a nice calm home soon.   • OTHER DOGS/CATS/KIDS:  I met some dogs at Mostly Mutts that were my size and though I wasn’t ready to play with them, I also didn’t show any aggression, so if you have a dog already, let’s meet! / Cats unknown. / I haven’t met kids yet at Mostly Mutts, but I think I’d do better with 15+ teens that know how to respect boundaries, read my signals and give me time to get to know them, so if you have calm teens like this, let’s meet!    • PERSONALITY/ENERGY LEVEL:  I arrived as a scared and stressed little guy, but I do warm up to people with just a little time and patience and then I’ve been described as “a sweet lap dog”.  I’m a fellow who thrives on attention – much more interested in being with you than playing with toys. I’ll need my family to understand that I struggle with leashing and my harness, etc. and I’ll need them to be able to read my signals that I just may need more time before leashing.  I may be a one- or two-person type of little doggie, but once I’m in a home, I may enjoy more people – time will tell. I’m quite dramatic and loud if I’m upset or afraid, so I don’t think I’d be a good fit in an apartment/condo type of home. / My energy level is 4-6.        • SKILLS/CRATE/POTTY:  I am a student in the Mostly Mutts University training program, where I have learned the ‘sit’ command so far. I’m sure you can teach me more. / My crate manners are good at Mostly Mutts. / I've been having some accidents on the shelter schedule.  Please continue to be consistent with me on a good schedule, so I can master my potty skills. • LIKES/DISLIKES:  Once I know you, being with you makes me a happy guy.  I love to sit with you and spend time together.  If you don’t see me, check the blankets before sitting on them because I love to burrow myself in a blanket and I sure don’t want to get sat on. / I don’t like being leashed around my neck or having hands in my face, so my leashing has been a challenge with some nipping/warnings, and I did get one hand. Keeping a slack leash helps and cheese is helpful when working with my harness or leash.  Otherwise, I’m sure I wouldn’t like it if I didn’t get enough love, attention, exercise and training. • MEDICAL:  I'm current on annual vaccinations, micro-chipped and neutered.  I’ve also just had a dental cleaning and 4 teeth pulled, so my mouth is fresh and healthy. I have fur loss on my underside that we think was from untreated fleas and an unhealthy diet.  I’m on good food now and am flea free, so hopefully it will grow back in.   I am looking for a patient and wonderful family that will love me for life in a great home!  My adoption fee is $299.00 and I’m located in Kennesaw, Ga.

Adoption Process
Mostly Mutts Animal Rescue & Adoption's Adoption Process Our facility is currently open to the public Monday-Saturday, 11-3. We welcome you to come meet our adoptable Mutts & Kitties! Please keep in mind the following: Many of our adoptable Mutts & Kitties are in foster homes, so please call 770-272-6888 to find out if the pet you are interested in is at our facility. With an approved application we can set up meet & greets and adoptions with a pet in foster care. Adoption Info: Adoptions are being scheduled for approved applicants, by appointment only. Please submit an application through our website at www.mostlymutts.org if you are interested in one of our adoptable pets.
