Southern Comfort Animal Rescue

Southern Comfort Animal Rescue, Inc. is 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization that rescues and rehomes abused, unwanted and abandoned companion animals.Southern Comfort was founded in 2001 in Savannah, Georgia, to provide shelter and find temporary foster or permanent homes for pets left behind when troops in nearby Ft. Stewart's 3rd Infantry Division shipped out to Iraq and Afghanistan. In 2006, the organization moved to Glenwood, Georgia. Southern Comfort fills a critical need in Wheeler County, which has no other rescues or animal control. We specialize in physical, social and emotional rehabilitation of our rescues. All animals are examined, vaccinated, spayed or neutered and receive any and all medical treatment before being placed in carefully screened forever homes.Southern Comfort is a "no-kill" rescue and only euthanizes in cases of irremediable suffering or vicious and dangerous animals. We also work to raise public awareness of the plight of homeless animals and promote the benefits of adopting an animal in need through community outreach and education.

Meet Panda

***Panda is with a loving foster in Hawthorne, NJ. An application for his adoption can be submitted at socorescue.com (no need to register or login). Questions about Panda and/or our adoption process should be sent to [email protected]; please no phone calls.*** In January of this year, a man found a box of 12 puppies that had been discarded in the mobile home park where he lived. He and his wife took the pups to their home and gave the two month old pups the best care that they could. The pups were overloaded with worms, parasites and fleas, which left them without fur to keep themselves warm during the frigid January temperatures. Five of the young pups passed before we were able to take them in and a sixth passed shortly after coming to our rescue, but Panda and his five remaining siblings have all fully recovered from their ailments and are now healthy, happy and ready to find their new homes. Panda could also earn the name of Mr. Charisma as his personal qualities will definitely draw the attention and admiration of all who meet him. As a family companion, he will fill your days with love, happiness and a renown belief that unconditional love does still exist.  Panda has will have received all of his required first year "puppy" vaccinations, including his rabies and Bordetella vaccines, as well as scheduled de-wormings and monthly preventatives prior to being transported north. His adopter must agree to having Panda neutered once he reaches six months of age and provide verification of such to our rescue. Panda will also need to receive all of his basic training.

Adoption Process
we have an adoption questionnaire as well as a contract. The only fees we charge are those we are charged for the animal (vet fees)
