Southern Comfort Animal Rescue

Southern Comfort Animal Rescue, Inc. is 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization that rescues and rehomes abused, unwanted and abandoned companion animals.Southern Comfort was founded in 2001 in Savannah, Georgia, to provide shelter and find temporary foster or permanent homes for pets left behind when troops in nearby Ft. Stewart's 3rd Infantry Division shipped out to Iraq and Afghanistan. In 2006, the organization moved to Glenwood, Georgia. Southern Comfort fills a critical need in Wheeler County, which has no other rescues or animal control. We specialize in physical, social and emotional rehabilitation of our rescues. All animals are examined, vaccinated, spayed or neutered and receive any and all medical treatment before being placed in carefully screened forever homes.Southern Comfort is a "no-kill" rescue and only euthanizes in cases of irremediable suffering or vicious and dangerous animals. We also work to raise public awareness of the plight of homeless animals and promote the benefits of adopting an animal in need through community outreach and education.

Meet Scamp

***Scamp is with a loving foster near Ringoes, NJ.  An application for his adoption should be submitted at socorescue.com (no need to register or login). Questions about Scamp and/or our adoption policy should be sent to [email protected]; please do not call the shelter's number.*** Scamp and his five siblings came to our rescue as owner surrenders. Their former owner had no idea on how to care for puppies and had started feeding them mashed potatoes once they were weaned from their mom. The pups came to us loaded with various worms and had not yet received any of their required care. Immediately upon their arrival, we began administering their vaccinations and de-wormers and all of the pups now are healthy, happy and full of life! The largest of this litter, Scamp is also the instigator of all mischievous activity that these pups get into! He's very playful, full of personality and always eager to show you what a great friend he can be. Scamp will make an excellent addition into any home. Scamp will have already received 2/3 of his first year "puppy" vaccinations, his Bordetella vaccination and all of his scheduled de-wormings and preventative care (flea/tick, heartworm, etc.) His adopter must agree to having Scamp neutered once he reaches 6 months of age and provide verification of such to our rescue. Scamp will require all of his basic training.

Adoption Process
we have an adoption questionnaire as well as a contract. The only fees we charge are those we are charged for the animal (vet fees)
