Rosalie and Friends

Rosalie and Friends is taking over the 501c3 organization from "Friends of the Escambia County Animal Shelter" Continuing programs include heartworm treatment sponsorship for dogs adopted through our shelter, a fospice program that places and supports senior shelter animals in a loving home and Major Medical support for cases that cannot be managed by shelter veterinarian. Our logo states "Fospice and Fixer Uppers" We are expanding to take in community animals in need to keep them from going to the shelter. The fospice animals remain under our care and the fixer uppers are placed up for adoption once the medical condition has been properly managed. Previously the fixer uppers were then transported up to a partner shelter in the northeast but we will not offer some of them for adoption locally.

Meet June

June, also known as Junebug or June Carter Cash, is an 8-year-old Boston terrier. She has spent the majority of her life as a breeding dog living in a kennel. It didn't take her long at all to appreciate the finer things in life, though. June has a surprising amount of energy for her age. Her favorite things to do are to hoard all the toys in the house and to play with her foster sister. She is on a mission to eradicate the entire yard of sticks. It's not a fast process, but she's committed to it. June knows how to use a dog door and she is house trained. She does well in her crate during the day as long as she's given a little food motivation to go inside. June loves everyone she meets, but she does get a little over excited and tends to jump when her people first get home or when meeting new friends, so she is not recommended in a home with small children or anyone with mobility issues. June requires a securely fenced yard, as she loves to explore but does not have great recall yet. June does ok with calm cats but if they run she will chase them. She does request a home that allows her on the furniture, and we agree that after 8 years in a kennel she deserves that. She also requests lots of fluffy blankets. Included in each adoption: age appropriate shots, microchip, and spay/neuter surgery. Prior to meeting or adopting any of our wonderful animals, we ask that you please fill out our online application: https://form.jotform.com/223268341300041 We are a 100% volunteer organization and have to work other jobs to pay the bills. Please give us up to 48 hours to respond. Submission of an adoption application does not obligate you to adopt nor does it guarantee approval. We look forward to hearing from you. We are located in Pensacola, Fl. Local applications considered first, but will consider out of state applications if transport can be arranged. Please note all animals in the home must be altered, up to date on vaccines, and be on heartworm prevention. We understand there are some special cases and will take those into consideration.

Adoption Process
Completion of adoption application followed by online and telephone screening. Home visit and signing of a contract which states animals will be a indoor family pet.
