We are only considering applications in our local area - 1 hour or less from Arcadia FL - see below for more info.  You must live in a single family home in order to be considered - puppies of this age cannot be in grassy or common areas where any other unknown dogs have been so places like condos, apartments, villa homes, etc. are not options.   We do require that you have recent verifiable dog/puppy history and excellent vet history in order to be considered for adoption of a puppy.  IF YOU DO NOT MEET THESE REQUIREMENTS YOUR APPLICATION WILL NOT BE PROCESSED. NAME:    Pinto BREED:   Wire haired terrier mix SEX:   male COLOR:   white AGE:   born Jan 11, 2025 WEIGHT:   6.5 lbs as of May 13, 2025 FOSTERED BY:  LOCATED IN:   NOTES FROM FOSTER FAMILY: Pinto came to us after being found in the middle of a highway in the dark with his dead litter mate.  Both of his back legs were broken in the same spot.  Based on his injuries and where he was found, it appears that he was thrown from a car.  Both legs were splinted and he has healed from his injuries and doing great!   On top of that, this poor little boy tested positive for parvo.  Luckily we caught it right away before he showed any symptoms and gave him a dose of CPMA (monoclonal antibody)  We are happy to report that Pinto made it through this second scare and has completely recovered.   While he was being treated for the other issues we also realized that he is deaf.  He doesn't let this stop him and he is a sweet and loving boy.  He just needs someone that is willing to work with him on hand signals and other methods of communication with him.  Deaf dogs are able to live normal lives and just need a caring family to work with them.   We are only considering homes in our local area - 1 hour or less from Arcadia FL.  If you have adopted from us before and are slightly out of that area, please contact us directly and we can discuss it.  The puppies are too young to be spayed/neutered yet and still need a few more rounds of vaccines as well as to be spayed or neutered..  All vaccines and spay/neuter surgery will be done at our vet's office in Arcadia so you must be willing to bring them to their appointments in order to be considered for adoption.  If you are interested in adopting please complete our Adoption Application by copying and pasting the following link into your web browser: http://www.caninecastaways.org/adoption-application For a full list of dogs we currently have for adoption use this link:  https://www.caninecastaways.org/adoptable-dogs MEDICAL INFO: The following has been or will be done for this puppy at the appropriate age... - Basic Exam by Veterinarian - Spayed or Neutered - Placed on heartworm preventive - Basic Bloodwork - Microchipped - Intestinal Parasite Exam and medication - Vaccinations - Placed on flea preventive ADOPTION DONATION: $400 This adoption donation helps to cover the vet expenses for this puppy including heartworm preventive which is dispensed at the initial vet visit and then goes with the dog at adoption.
