Meet Helene! This 37-pound, 11-month-old sweetheart came to us as an owner surrender due to her family’s medical reasons—plus a little mischief involving backyard chickens. Since arriving at the home of our new foster friend, Kristin Ottinger, it’s become very clear: Helene enjoys being indoors and with her people! In her foster home, Kristin reports that Helene has been the perfect family dog. She’s great with other dogs, tolerant of cats , and wonderful with kids—big and small. She’s friendly, quiet, and potty trained. Helene loves being near her people but isn’t needy or overly vocal about it. Leash walking? She’s learning! She needs guidance, but she doesn’t pull. She’ll fetch if prompted , but truthfully, Helene’s happy place seems to be lounging on the couch with you. She’s still adjusting to new neighborhood sounds (loud noises make her jump a bit), but she’s settling in beautifully and showing more of her sweet, gentle personality every day. Helene’s original owners got her off of craigslist right after Hurricane Helene and were told that she is a rough collie. Her weight, her ears, and her height of 19-20 inches suggest that she may also have some Shetland Sheepdog in her as well. She is scheduled to be spayed this week and will be ready for her forever home shortly after. Big thanks to Animal Medical Center for taking such good care of her during her initial vetting! If you’re looking for a calm, loving, family-friendly pup with a heart of gold, Helene might just be your perfect match. Apply today at 4luckydogs.org !
