Meet ESME
MEET ESME -- ***Located in Mt. Dora, FL*** BOSSY ESME is about 4 years old and is tan in color and weighs about 24 lbs. She was rescued from a backyard breeder and is now doing very well in a foster home. Her first Vet appt. for shots and bloodwork was earlier this week, and received the "good health stamp of approval!" She is slated for spay surgery next week. She is adjusting well to her new environment, playing with toys, eating and just being curious. She likes to sit with you on the sofa - or sleep with you in bed -- and can be a little BOSSY when she wants your attention! And with gentle reminders, she is 95% housebroken. She does not walk well on a leash and gets a little love-bite nippy when you pick up her leash or collar! She is very strong - and we DO NOT THINK she would be good with someone who is not steady on their feet. ***Not sure about cats or kids - YET. Her adoption fee of $350 covers: full vetting, blood tests and vaccines, spay surgery and microchip. She would probably do well as an only dog - as long as her owner isn't gone for long periods of time. We would prefer an owner who is familiar with the maladies of this breed. Adoption fee $350 Interested? Download our application now. www.gratefulpaws.org NOTE: Adoption/rehoming fees are applied towards the vet bill: exam, blood tests, vaccinations, fecal, worming, spay/neuter, dental if necessary, and a microchip. There is rarely anything left over, but if that happens, the monies get applied to the next or previous pet - who may have had to have an x-ray, be groomed or have a dental.
Adoption Process
We are of the belief that there is a perfect home for every homeless pet. We just need the time to find it.
Most of the animals in our care have been rescued, so we ensure their new homes will be better than the last.
We ask every potential adoptee to complete an adoption application. The board reviews each application and the best home for the pet will be chosen. We arrange for a home visit; use a legal and binding adoption contract and charge an adoption fee that is applied towards the vet bill and care of the pet. In most cases the adoption fee does not cover our out -of-pocket costs so we rely upon the help of many to place the animal in its final home.
