Swamp Haven Rescue, Inc.

We are Swamp Haven and this is our story. Swamp Haven is an animal rescue organization that takes down-on-their-luck dogs and nurtures them back to a healthy mental and physical state, so they can find their forever home. Our goal is simple. We save innocent dogs that have been overlooked by society and provide short-term care including vetting (vaccinations, spay/neuter, microchip and heartworm and flea prevention) and training to learn how to walk politely on a leash, play in a pack and live calmly and lovingly in their new home.It all started a few years back when we made the move from the Pacific Northwest to North Florida. We were surprised to learn how many dogs lose their lives in shelters each month around this area and felt compelled to do something. In the beginning of 2015, we founded Swamp Haven, a 501c3 nonprofit dog rescue organization that survives entirely on donations. Feel free to noodle around our site and learn more about our organization including ways to donate, how you can foster a dog and our adoption process.

Meet Tiny Tina

Tiny Tina - who is she? Resident house elf? Tiny woodland creature? Cutest little Hershey’s chocolate kiss? How about all of the above! Tina weighs in at a whooping 19.3 pounds and is roughly 1-2 years old. When we first picked Tina up, her little body was so curled into itself we thought something was wrong with her hips or spine. She could barely walk, lift her head, and all her legs were tucked under her like a turtle. We had to take pictures from down below to even get her precious face in any photos All the scans later and everything is perfectly normal - our vet thinks it’s likely she spent a lot of her life in a much too small crate and didn’t have proper space to move around and muscles to grow. One week later and she’s living her best Swampie life with all the room to move and use those muscles! She’s already walking so much better and her adorable personality is shining through. She’s finishing up meds for a nasty flea infection that seriously effected her skin but her gorgeous chocolate brindle coat is already growing back nicely and she’s on the schedule to get spayed soon. Tina is thriving in her foster home and her super silly personality is out in full force!

Adoption Process
When you adopt a dog from Swamp Haven, you’re not just saving a life. You’re beginning a journey filled with love, loyalty and trust. Life can be busy and stressful. The companionship of a dog is a constant reminder to slow down and enjoy the little things. At Swamp Haven, our mission isn’t to just help down-on-their-luck dogs find their forever homes. Our mission is to create a lasting relationship with you and your family. At Swamp Haven, our mission isn’t to just help down-on-their-luck dogs find their forever homes. Our mission is to create a lasting relationship with you and your family. Adopt happiness. Our adoption process is unique in that we work with you every step of the way to ensure that we’re placing the right dog with the right family. First, we like to have a phone chat to get a feel for the kind of dog that you’re looking for. Next, we have you fill out a foster application. After that, we come to your house with a carload of dogs for you to choose from and have you foster the dog of your choosing for a week to make sure that it’s a good fit. The last step is to finalize the adoption. And then congrats, you’re a new member of the Swamp Haven family and your happy tail has just begun! Our adoption fee is $300.

Look for other dogs for adoption!
