Meet Spike

Meet Spike! A gentle nine-and-a-half-year-old Labrador Retriever/Australian Shepherd mix currently living in Newalla, OK, whose soulful gaze—one brown eye and one blue—speaks volumes about his loving heart and calm spirit. Spike is the kind of companion who makes life just a little softer and sweeter! He has a mellow, affectionate nature and finds comfort in both human and animal company. Whether he’s peacefully coexisting with feline friends (yes, both indoor and outdoor cats!) or greeting new canine pals with a wag and a sniff, Spike is all about harmony. He does get a little excited around young children—mostly tail wags and big smiles—but he’s never shown aggression, just a lot of enthusiasm! This medium-sized sweetheart, weighing in at about 50 pounds, is happiest when he’s by your side or gently squeaking a stuffed toy in the backyard. While he did injure a leg a few years ago, he only shows a mild limp after too much running. That hasn’t stopped him from enjoying the outdoors—he still likes his strolls and a bit of sunshine. He’s not on any medication and doesn’t let that old injury get him down! Spike knows a couple of basics like “sit” and “crate,” and while he may not have formal training, his eager-to-please personality makes him a great candidate for learning more—especially with positive reinforcement. He’s crate trained and content during the workday, but if left loose on his own for too long, accidents can happen. Storms can make him a bit uneasy, but calming treats and the cozy comfort of his crate help ease his nerves. One of his favorite monthly highlights? A trip to the groomer! He absolutely loves the pampering and attention. Now looking for a moderately active, loving home, Spike needs a family who’ll cherish his golden years with gentle walks, soft toys, and plenty of snuggles. If you think your heart has room for a sweet soul like Spike reach out today at [email protected]! He’s ready to be someone’s constant companion—will it be you?
