To apply to adopt this dog now, complete our adoption application HERE To see our upcoming events where you can meet some of our dogs, please see HERE Age: ~ 14 years (as of 6/30/23) Weight: 25 lbs (as of 3/29/24) Location: RI This dog has been spayed/neutered, is up to date on shots, on heartworm preventative and is microchipped. Meet Chip, a gentle and loving soul. Despite her advanced years, she exudes a quiet strength and resilience that is truly admirable. Chip's world may be silent and dim due to her limited sight and hearing, but her heart is as open and vibrant as ever. She navigates her environment with a serene calmness, her shy nature only adding to her endearing personality. This sweet girl is a testament to the power of love and patience. She is house trained and will stand or pace by door if she wants to go out but does best with a doggy door. Chip has advanced cataracts, is nearly blind and cannot go up and down steps or stairs. She is also nearly deaf. Her favorite thing is to lay in her pet bed. Chip's even-tempered nature makes her an ideal companion for those seeking a peaceful, low-energy pet. She's longing for a forever home where she can spend her golden years surrounded by warmth and affection. Adopt Chip and let her show you the beauty of life through her unique perspective. Chip's Story: Has always been inside dog with elderly owner who passed. Medical Note: This dog is being treated/has been treated for demodectic mange, a non-contagious skin condition. The dog has responded well to this treatment and is ready for adoption, though may still have some bald patches and/or thin fur in places. Please note that demodex can flare up in any dog in times of stress (eg, transport, transition to a new home, change in food, etc). As such, the adopter is advised to discuss this condition and best next steps with their veterinarian. SOS recommends that dogs with a history of demodectic mange be kept on regular NexGard or Bravecto for flea/tick prevention for at least 3 months after adoption for adults or until 18 months of age for puppies. Please see here for more information on demodectic mange and talk with your Adoption Counselor about this condition. Please check with your vet if you have any questions or concerns about this medical history. An adoption donation is required for each adoption; please see HERE for more information about this. To apply for this dog, fill out an adoption application on our website: www.sosarl.org/aa/ **Additional info you should know - For most of our dogs, we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each of our dogs as an individual and do our best to describe and place them based on personality not breed label. Some dogs may not yet be in New England, nor ready for immediate adoption. There may be additional vetting, quarantine, waiting periods and/or fees depending upon your state of residence. If you have questions or concerns on any of this, you can discuss this with your Adoption Counselor.
