Meet Biggs / Chubbs
General Notes | Sweet Chubbs was an owner surrender with his brother due to their owner's aging and inability to continue to support having dogs. After living his life in a garage on a shared bed, MHLRM can't wait for Chubbs to have a home of his own where he can be doted and loved on. Want to adopt this dog? Please do not email us. Please fill out the Adoption Application ASAP. Personality | Chubs is adoring, sweet, mellow, and just a happy guy. He has spent the majority of his life living in a garage and in the backyard, so he gets excited by new smells, places, and people!Story | Chubs and his brother were surrendered to a local shelter by the adult children of his owners. They shared they were dumping the dogs because their care had become too hard and was too much work for aging adults. Chubbs got adopted at the shelter and then returned a day later due to his size -- Mile High doesn't discriminate big or small so we welcomed him right in!Other Dogs | Chubs is good with other dogs and has done well in engaging with them. He would prefer slow intros (he doesn't like to rush to anything but his food bowl)Cats | Chubbbs has not yet been cat tested so it is unknown how he would do. Children | Chubbs would love gentle and loving kiddos Training | Chubs is potty trained, knows sit and lay down, and is working on additional training. Leash | Chubs is your typical lab on the leash - a bit strong in pulling when excitable, but managable! He is sporting his brand new harness and he's excited for some short outings to help achieve his weight loss goalsActivity Level | Low to moderate. Health Notes | Chubbs is being treated for an ear infection. He is neutered and UTD on vaccines. He is HW negative! Thank you! | Adoption Donations | Our adoption donations are $475 for dogs 8 weeks to 1 year, $425 for 1-6 years, $375 for dogs 7-10 years, and $250 for 11+ years of age. Purebred dogs regardless of age are $525. These minimum donations help to defer the costs of initial vet care, food, and supplies while in foster care that currently average over $700 per dog).Meeting Dogs | Foster dogs may have meet & greets by appointment to approved applicants only. To become an approved applicant - please complete the application process. Please know | Available dogs are updated as soon as possible and we do our best to keep it up-to-date, but occasionally dogs shown may become unavailable without notice due to a pending adoption. We encourage you to put in an application even if you don't see your new family member currently, as once you are approved, we can place you on the waiting list for first priority on the selection of the dogs we do bring in. That means you can often meet a dog upon transport arrival and adopt before they even make it to this page!We can not guarantee that a dog you wish to adopt is available by the time your adoption application is submitted, processed, and approved. Your application is good for one year from the date of applying for any dog as long as it is a good fit for your family and your lifestyle.
