Animal Rescue of the Rockies

ARR was formed in 2003 to provide an alternative to shelter environments for homeless dogs and cats. By providing foster homes as a temporary measure until forever homes can be found, our pets are socialized and cared for individually.

Meet Gecio

Gorgeous 1-year-old Gecio, whose name signifies charming, friendly, and sociable, is all that and more. Still thin at 25 pounds despite his hearty appetite, he’s docile and sweet and lives solely for LOVE. Thriving on his fosters’ constant attention, he loves being picked up and held, cuddling with them on the couch, resting his head on them, rolling over for belly rubs, and licking their faces to elicit more of the affection he adores. In fact, he loves people so much that when he’s out in public, he tries to smell every person he can and jumps up extremely gently trying to get love! He likes all of the dogs he meets, greeting them with a gaily wagging tail as he tries to play with them almost immediately, and is learning now to pull less on his leash. (He would clearly enjoy going on two-hour hikes but the weather is too cold). Fond of chewing bones, he loves a Kong with peanut butter inside and has several favorite toys, including a rolled up toy that crinkles when he bites it, a tiger-striped fish, and a squishy Hello Kitty pillow. Gradually getting used to car rides, motivated by love and food, he currently knows “sit” and “no,” is growing more comfortable in his crate and is almost fully house-trained. Because he jumps high into the air when he’s especially excited or thinks he’s going for a walk, Gecio will be safest in a home with a secure 6-foot fenced yard (or kept on a leash outdoors) ,and adoring adopters to complete his training, including his commands, and keep him mentally and physically satisfied fur-ever. Animal Rescue of the Rockies believes every pet should find a wonderful and caring home. To ensure each pet finds the best possible home, we ask that you fill out our adoption application so we can learn more about you and your household. We review each application received in the order they're submitted and will contact you within 48 hours (please check your spam folder for our emails). If your home sounds like a good match for you and the pet, we will connect you with our dogs' foster parents to chat more in-depth. If both you and the foster agree that the dog is a good fit then a "meet and greet" is set up. We require applicants' dogs to meet ours to ensure they get along. We'll ask you to read and sign our adoption agreement and pay the adoption fee to finalize the adoption when it comes time. Our adoption fees help cover the costs of saving more lives!  A home visit will be scheduled within one week of your new pet going home with you.  The adoption fee for this pet is $300. Our adoption fee covers the following: Spay/neuter Microchip DAPP vaccinations as age-appropriate for the dog. Adopters shall be responsible for all DAPP boosters after adoption. Rabies vaccinations as age-appropriate for the dog. Adopters shall be responsible for any rabies vaccinations after adoption. Please fill out an adoption application by clicking  here . Please give us 48 hours to review your application and respond to you. (Remember to check your spam folder for our emails!) We want our pets to go to a lifelong new home, so thank you for your patience during the adoption process! Please email [email protected] for more information, as we can't accept calls at this time.
