Moms and Mutts Colorado Rescue for Pregnant & Nursing Dogs

We are a foster based, 501c3 non-profit rescue, dedicated to the health and wellbeing of dams and their litters. We see our rescue dogs through pregnancy, birth (whelping), nursing, weaning, and adoption. In addition to providing necessary care, we also work to socialize, train, and evaluate each dog to ensure that they find permanent forever homes. This involves establishing close and trusting relationships with our volunteers, adopters, and the community.

Meet Tic Tacs - Mandarin aka "Finn" (NEUTERED)

Finn is a 3 1/2 year old Vizsla mix. He is healthy, neutered, up to date on vaccinations and microchipped. In true Vizsla fashion he is your typical Velcro dog that LOVES people and is happiest at home snuggling on the couch or on your lap! He is an incredibly sweet dog who is 100% loyal to his pack.He has great obedience skills, is crate trained (but does well free in home) as well as recall off leash, and loves playing with our older golden doodle. He does well around children and babies, loves to go camping and run free and would love a nice big back yard. He has some anxiety which portrays as leash reactivity at times. This presents itself in a verbal manner with some whining and growling, but never lunging at people or other dogs. He has had lots of professional training to work on this (both one on one and group trainings). He does not have any separation anxiety or problems in the house. He will require a loving, dedicated family who has experience with dogs and can keep him engaged and active. He has lived in a 2 dog household, but can be selective with certain dogs so needs a slow, proper introduction over a period of time. He is a wonderful companion and is the biggest cuddle bug at home. We are looking at all options to find him the best home and the right family. *Due to concerns surrounding COVID-19, we have reformatted the way that we do adoptions in order to follow social distancing protocols. We are thrilled that so many people want to adopt right now, but we are not equipped to handle the large number of calls, applications, and email inquiries we are receiving. We are no longer answering phone calls and are doing all communications with adopters via email. If you have a dog you are interested in adopting, please fill out an application before sending us emails. When your application has been processed, you will receive an email from us with further instructions on how to adopt. You do not need a new application for every dog that you are interested in adopting. At MAMCO we understand that in order to continue rescuing moms and babies, we must stretch our finances as far as we are able. For this reason we use variable adoption pricing. By assigning higher adoption fees to high demand moms and puppies, we are able to rescue more families in need. The money raised through these adoptions acts as a benefactor to moms and puppies in our care who require expensive veterinary treatments, have behavioral issues, or need more time to find a home. We often reduce the adoption fees on these harder-to-place moms and puppies to help them find forever families. Adoption fees vary, but all include spay or neuter, microchip, up to date vaccinations and deworming, rabies vaccine at the time of spay or neuter, and 30 days of pet insurance. We also cover hernia repair and cherry eye repair at the time of spay or neuter. Applications can be filled out at mamcorescue.org.

Adoption Process
Adopters fill out an application that is thoroughly evaluated. Approved applications are forwarded to fosters for second evaluations and the foster then interview the applicants and set up meet and greets. Adoptions are accompanied by an adoption contract. Fees vary. Home checks required.
