Meet Amelia

A COMPLETED APPLICATION IS OUR FIRST STEP TOWARD ANY ADOPTION.  YOU WILL FIND THE ONLINE APP ON OUR WEBSITE AT  WITHOUT BASIC INFORMATION FROM YOU, WE HAVE NO IDEA IF AMELIA COULD BE YOUR NEXT BEST FRIEND. "Amelia" is a four-year-old spayed female tri-color smooth coated Collie.  For those of you who have never seen the short-haired variety of the Collie breed, we can enlighten you with the basics.  Like the rough Collie (long haired like Lassie), Amelia has a double coat.  She will need to be brushed a couple of times per week and bathed every couple of months.  Now that Amelia is learning the joys of being a beloved pet, brushing and bathing are not as frightening as they once were. Amelia is one of the twelve lucky Collies to come to Colorado from the Illinois Collie hoarder confiscation of 198 dogs.  She is the shyest of the group and continues to do much better with women than with men.  She has remained in her original foster home to gain confidence and it is wonderful to watch her begin to trust humans.  We are hoping for a placement for Amelia with a single woman or female couple.  It will take her some time for her to realize she is home and safe.  But if she can learn to adore her foster mom (me!), she will take that next step and love others too. Please read the basic requirements for placement on our website and make sure that our organization is the group you can feel confident with.  Fenced yard, great reference from your vet, home a good chunk of the time and lots of love to share.
