Greater California German Shepherd Rescue

Greater California German Shepherd Rescue is a 501(c)(3) public charity non-profit. We are an all-volunteer group of German Shepherd lovers dedicated to rescuing German Shepherd Dogs from at-risk and unacceptable situations and finding them permanent, loving homes with qualified owners. We serve the communities surrounding Modesto, Merced, Greater Sacramento, and South Lake Tahoe, and occasionally parts of the North and East SF Bay area. Except for a portion of Nevada around Lake Tahoe, we don't adopt dogs out of state and rarely adopt out of our area. There are too many other German Shepherds in need of good homes in the other areas.

Meet Aluna

Adoption Fee:  $300.00 Aluna was found running in the middle of a busy street by a Volunteer so nothing is known about her past.  She was posted on several Lost and Found sites, as well as the local animal shelter, Ring, Nextdoor and Paw Boost, with no inquiries.  She has completed her mandatory stray hold and is now ready to find her forever home. Aluna is an approximately 1 year-old black and tan female.  We do know that based on a physical examination, she has already had a litter of puppies.  She is only 60 lbs., but could definitely stand to add 10 – 15 lbs. Aluna is a typical 1 year-old girl with moderate energy.  She is mouthy and likes to jump up when excited. She knows some basic commands, such as Sit, Off, Leave it, and Crate.  She is crate-trained, often napping in her crate and sleep through the night in her crate without a peep.  Aluna is housebroken with the use of a doggy door.  She is very food and praise motivated, and wants to please her human.  We are working on leash manners, as she has a tendency to pull. Aluna does well with the large female and male dogs in her foster home, engaging in play, and likes to snuggle up to the male. Aluna would do best in a home with another large male dog and children over the age of 7, due to her jumping.  She will need continued training and socialization by her new family. Cats and small critters unknown. Level 2
