Kora is a beautiful pup and looks very cuddly and precious on the outside - but there's more. She actually is all those things on the inside too, but more importantly she's also a very scared, nervous dog who needs a lot of patience, time and love to come out of her shell. She needs a home where at least one person works from home or is home most of the time. While she is scared of people, she is also very scared of being left alone and she will stress poop if left alone. She stress poops in many situations where she feels extra scared - these can be simple things like forcing her to put on her harness or collar if she isn't ready for it. She will run and hide under bushes, trees, benches, anything she can hide under. She is the kind of dog that needs to come to you when she's ready and doesn't do well if she feels cornered or if affection is being forced on her. Kora was abandoned by her previous adopter because she was unable to provide the level of care required for this pup.   Kora needs to go to a home with at least one other dog. She is incredibly open and trusting of other dogs and it goes a long way in helping her accept the humans in the house. She watches the dogs trust you and then she is much more open to it. She can walk on leash but gets scared of all people so you have to give plenty of space to pass them - this is where walking her with another dog is very helpful. She watches them and gets the courage to keep going.   Now for the good stuff! Kora just needs love!! Once she opens up Kora is amazing! She is a super sweet, active, loving and cuddly pup! After she relaxes she can let her puppy out and just wants to play - she plays wonderfully with other dogs and she loves to chew on her toys. She wants to be near you and loves to come jump on the couch next to you to cuddle. She is food-motivated so that should also help in gaining her trust. She is incredibly affectionate once she trusts you - she covers you in kisses then she cuddles with you and thinks she is a lap dog. She loves being held and sitting in your lap feeling protected by you - she is a little oversized for it but she curls up real small! She is a major goofball - she loves being silly and looking at you inviting you to join in the fun! She also loves running around the backyard flopping into beds of clover and grass and she is very comfortable out in nature (one of those dogs that doesn't seem to mind the rain!). She will thrive in a warm home and a family who is patient with her needs.   Care notes: She will need constant grooming care - her hair gets matted very easily and she needs frequent brushing and regular haircuts. She will need a crate - it is her safe space and she is good sleeping in it at night and she always has a place to run to if she's scared.  Adoption Center: (415) 506-6225 The Marin Humane Society 171 Bel Marin Keys Blvd., Novato, California 94949 Email: [email protected]
