Moose recently met some social dogs at our shelter. He displayed multiple displacement behaviors, which generally mean that he was conflicted or nervous. Instead of greeting the other dog, he pretended not to notice her and decided to roll on his back and lounge in the pool, neither of which he had been doing until the other dog entered the yard. We hope that as he gets more experience in our shelter playgroups, he'll be playful and silly with the other dogs.
