Doggie Protective Services

We are a non-profit 501(c)(3) animal rescue organization based in So. CA who has established chapters outside of the area to attempt to place more of the dogs that are dying in the shelters in So. CA. Many areas do not have small breed dogs and we transport and meet with potential adopters because So. CA is deluged in small breed dogs.

Meet Tom

Adoption Fee: $700   Tom is a 4 month old Shiba Inu mix who is just as handsome as he is fluffy (and trust us he is even fluffier in person). Tom came all the way from Korea with his brother, Cruise, to find his superstar forever home. We expect Tom to be around 35-45 pounds when he is fully grown and he just keeps getting more handsome by the day. We have no doubt this boy will charm hearts and minds across the world, and his lucky forever family will truly be box office gold in his eyes!    Tom is a loving and handsome boy who has the charisma to charm even the toughest movie critic! He is gaining his confidence more and more each day as he follows the resident dog through his day. He is learning to love the good things in life, from treats to cuddles and we have even started seeing some wagging tails as he gets more comfortable. However, when he sees his dog best friend climb onto the couch, he is ready to get in on the action. Tom has started figuring out what zoomies are and it has been so fabulous to watch as he figured out how to be a happy dog. He also loves soft beds and blankets, curling up into a tiny ball as he snoozes the afternoons away. Like any Shiba Inu, Tom is super duper smart so he will have a blast at puppy school with his people.  Tom starts his day at 7 AM with a trip outside for the bathroom. After some morning sniffs, he heads back inside for cuddles and breakfast. He spends his mornings alternating between playing with the resident dog and napping until he has lunch. In the afternoon, he gets a walk around the block followed by playtime in the backyard and more naps. In the evening, he gets a longer walk with the resident dog before he tucks in for dinner at 7 PM. After dinner, it’s time for evening playtime where he zooms around the house with his favorite toys. He gets one last potty break before he settles in for cuddles on the couch. Around 11 PM, he goes to bed for the night, snuggled in his crate.  Tom adores his foster brother and would do best in a forever home with another dog. He would ideally love a home where he can slowly gain confidence with a loving family not pushing him too quickly. He is fully house trained and crate trained. Tom loves walking once you get a leash on him and happily sniffs around the neighborhood. Watching Tom come out of his shell will be extremely rewarding for his lucky forever home and we hope it will be you!   Homes interested in Tom must have prior experience with owning their own dog. We will be strongly prioritizing homes who currently own a dog. Kids in the home should be over the age of 10.

Adoption Process
We require an application from anyone who is interested in adopting. Then we require a phone interview, followed by a meeting in person. Then if the animal is a match, we have a contract and our adoption fee which is $400.

Look for other dogs for adoption!
