Doggie Protective Services

We are a non-profit 501(c)(3) animal rescue organization based in So. CA who has established chapters outside of the area to attempt to place more of the dogs that are dying in the shelters in So. CA. Many areas do not have small breed dogs and we transport and meet with potential adopters because So. CA is deluged in small breed dogs.

Meet Waffle

This dog will be at a meet and greet event on Saturday, April 6th at the Palo Alto Pet Food Express from 12-3pm, unless he/she is set up and adopted prior to the event. Those interested in meeting the dog can come out to our meet and greet event. We no longer do application approval onsite. Anyone adopting has been previously approved and set up to meet prior to the event. Adoption Fee: $1000   Waffle is a 2-3 year old Golden Retriever who could convince even the strongest pancake lover that Team Waffle is the only way! Waffle came to DPS with three other Goldens after being surrendered to the shelter. We have no idea how this gorgeous girl landed herself in the slammer but we scooped her out, took her to breakfast, and promised her the best new life ever! Waffle is a purebred Golden Retriever. Interested homes must be prepared to discuss their continued plan for grooming and training.     Waffle is the quintessential perfect Golden Retriever with the “best smile ever seen on a dog”. She is the perfect balance of affectionate, playful, and chill. She adores her people and faithfully follows them around for pets and treats. If you’ve been dreaming of that perfect dog to join your family, she is that dog. Waffle loves meeting new people as well, and often flops right over onto her belly for rubs on walks when people ooh and aah over her. Waffle has a tail that never stops wagging and a smile that never leaves her face. It is impossible not to be happy when you are with Waffle. Waffle is both chill and energetic. She is happy to lay with you as you work, go on adventures when you want to explore, and play with you when you want to play. She doesn’t bark either! Only chill positivity from this amazing girl. Waffle is so smart and loving, so we would love a forever home to understand just how lucky they are to have her. Don’t believe us? Keep reading!  Waffle wakes up at 8 AM and trots right over to her bowl for breakfast around 9 AM, after a long sniff around the yard. She gets her first walk at around 10 AM and she loves romping through the neighborhood. Waffles has lunch at 1 PM. During the day, Waffle spends her time wandering the backyard, playing with her pile of toys, soaking up the sunshine, and getting snuggles on the couch. Waffles gets another walk in the evening after her foster family finishes work for the day before she has dinner at 8 PM. In the evening, Waffle gets some snuggles on the couch and some playtime before she goes out for one last potty break and then bed in her crate.  Waffle gets along fabulously with dogs of all ages and sizes once she gets to know them. She would be great as a solo dog or as a companion to an existing family pup. Waffle is working on her leash training and loves to get her sniffs out on walks. Waffle is fully house trained. She is responsive to correction and very food motivated! Waffle loves kids and is just as friendly with them as she is with adults. Waffle will be the perfect addition to both your breakfast table and family, so don’t let this chance pass you by to adopt the perfect dog!    Waffle is only an option for homes with prior experience. We will be prioritizing homes who have big dog experience. Kids in the home should be over the age of 7.

Adoption Process
We require an application from anyone who is interested in adopting. Then we require a phone interview, followed by a meeting in person. Then if the animal is a match, we have a contract and our adoption fee which is $400.

Look for other dogs for adoption!
